Gene Simmons was seen for the first time after being blasted for his ‘creepy’ remarks during an appearance on Dancing With The Stars.
The KISS frontman and bassist, 75, stepped out in Los Angeles on Wednesday, sporting a black button down with blue jeans and white sneakers.
His black hair was covered with a baseball hat, and he shielded his eyes with a pair of sunglasses.
The rocker held a cellphone in his hand as he navigated through a parking lot on foot.
Simmons was a guest judge on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars for Hair Metal Night, but ended up rubbing many fans the wrong way.
He joined judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli for Tuesday’s episode, which featured dances set to 80s hair metal hits like Cherry Pie, Rock You Like a Hurricane and more.
However, fans weren’t too appreciative of Simmons’ sexually suggestive comments, with many claiming he was the worst guest judge in the show’s 33 seasons.
Even host Alfonso Ribeiro seemed to be at odds with Simmons, firing back with a rather snarky comment.
Most times when Simmons was commenting on a routine, he was addressing the female dancer’s looks, which many viewers branded, ‘creepy.’
He told Danny Amendola and Witney Carson he couldn’t figure out which was more ‘hot hot hot.’
He called Reginald VelJohnson’s partner Emma Slater, ‘a beautiful woman,’ and said that Chandler Stevens, ‘fogged up my glasses,’ and that she, ‘moved me, not just with your gyrations and such but with your beautiful face.’
Many took to social media on Tuesday to voice their frustration like @gray_dwts, who said, ‘from sweet Ilona messing up to them torturing her more during the elimination to chandler getting underscored to practically seeing the same dance 500 million times to that whack a** creepy a** judge gene this night was a CHOP.’
@bambiisugars added, ‘gene simmons made the worst guest judge on dancing with the stars…. definitely gave some entertaining tv i guess.’
Another X user, @sambothehambo01, insisted, ‘ABC needs to issue an apology after having Gene Simmons on there and subjecting their cast to that. Why didn’t a producer tell him to knock it off?’
@MCMiddleton addressed Ribeiro’s comment in towards the end of the show, which he made after Phaedra Parks and Val Chmerkovskiy’s routine.
Simmons said, ‘I’m a big fan of the bad boy and the bad girl,’ and when Phaedra reacted, Gene said, ‘Settle down. It’s a family show. Settle down.
A seemingly incredulous Ribeiro said, ‘Oh, now you care,’ which brought a round of applause from the rest of the judges and the crowd.
@MCMiddleton tweeted, ‘”NOW you care!” Bro, Alfonso does NOT like Gene Simmons.’
@_DemarestEthan responded, ‘LOVE Alfonso for this – Gene was being such a creep all night and was woefully underscoring the POC…. DWTS please never invite that man back.
@niyah_oliver said, ‘The most unhinged night of dwts ever.. let’s maybe never have Gene Simmons back again please and Thank You.’
@bravoholic_ said, ‘During commercial breaks, producers of #DWTS should have told Mr Gene Simmons to stop commenting on all of the women’s looks. I’ve only seen 3 dances so far & I’m over his irrelevant remarks about the women when he is supposed to be commenting/“judging” their dancing!’
@urfavfolkwh*re said, ‘gene simmons should never be allowed to guest judge ever again #dwts
@LadyLiaPondeca added, ,’Sorry, Gene Simmons ruined it for me. Judge – No. What a mistep here….his true colors bled on the show…..ugh.’
The episode also featured the double-elimination of two fan favorites – Reginald VelJohnson and Eric Roberts.
Dancing With the Stars returns next week with Dedication Night on Tuesday, October 15 and with Disney Night on Tuesday, October 22.
