Lucinda Light has revealed she’s lost “millions” after turning down work since appearing on Married At First Sight.
The Australian star who appeared on the most recent series of the show admits that while she’s been offered work since filming wrapped, she won’t be saying “yes” to everything that’s thrown at her. However, the 43-year-old struggled to contain her excitement after one offer was put on the table.
Lucinda, who lives in a small coastal village will be swapping her quiet life for the bright lights of the UK and Ireland in August for a sell-out tour, before returning in October for more shows. Although she has appeared on one of the biggest shows and amassed almost one million followers, she views herself as far from famous.
“I love getting behind charities, really good stuff that feels juicy to me and I want to support,” she exclusively told the Mirror. Lucinda added: “Less celebrity fanfare for me. I’ve said many more No’s than yeses (for work), I believe in navigating towards this tour, it was just so aligned.
“It was the first full blazing yes, this is so me, I think I’ve knocked back over $1million worth of work, between all the ambassadorships, brand stuff, in my perspective, I don’t think people want to see on my Instagram, sell, sell, sell. I’ve said so many no’s and for me, I just want to be really on the precipice of doing stuff that matters and adding value to people’s lives.”
Lucinda added: “I think I’m doing very well with my decisions at this point, I’m taking my time with making those decisions and coming to the UK and doing this tour has been one of the best yeses I’ve said so far.” But while the star has amassed a huge following in the UK, she candidly revealed she’s “not as popular in Australia.”
While the show was airing, Lucinda admits she often “sat behind a blanket” and watched it but also learnt a lot about herself. She said: “Seeing Tim (Smith) and my dynamic from all sorts of different angles and having compassion for his part, I am a lot, I had to eat a lot of humble pie watching that back. I learnt a lot of things about myself, it was quite an extraordinary journey going through it.”
But while she remains in contact with most of her co-stars, she revealed she and her on-screen husband Tim are no longer in frequent contact, but hopes that will change in the future. Lucinda struggled to contain her joy for her upcoming tour across the UK which sold out in just 48 hours.
“It’s been extraordinary, we’ve had a huge response,” she exclaimed. She added: “I’ll be coming to old Blighty and Ireland, it’s like a homecoming for me. I’ve lived in London before, I have to pinch myself all the time that it’s real. It’s been such a whirlwind, I’ve been so touched that people get me and have understood me.” During the sold-out shows, Lucinda will chat with fans about her time on Married At First Sight as well as a question-and-answer session.
