Sources have claimed that Married at First Sight Australia producers deliberately matched two exes on the 2025 season, and it sounded too good to be true anyway!

ICYMI: In a leaked TikTok video from a paparazzo, two contestants Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels awkwardly greeted each other by name at the altar after they realised they already knew each other.

Sources have since revealed in episode 404 of the So Dramatic! podcast that the pair not only knew each other but have also dated in the past!

“Rhi and Jeff briefly dated last year,” one insider dished. “It wasn’t official, just a casual fling. They kept in touch and on good terms and mixed in the same circles.

“They had no idea they were marrying each other.”

Married at First Sight producers knew Rhi and Jeff had dated in the past

Whilst it’s been reported that Rhi and Jeff’s reunion was an “accident”, So Dramatic! can reveal that producers knew all about the duo’s previous fling.

“Of course, producers knew. They cast them together for that exact reason because it’s something that’s never happened on the show before,” one source told So Dramatic!.

“They found out they dated and thought it would make for a great storyline and a MAFS [Australia] first.”

Another source claimed that Rhi and Jeff’s coupling was “definitely not a coincidence”.

“The best man, Seb, had his speech written by the producers, and they 100 per cent knew that we’re matching them both with people they knew,” they added. Juicy!

Whilst the Aussie franchise has never matched two exes until now, a similar situation played out on MAFS USA in 2021 when Johnny Lam and Bao Huong Hoang, who knew each other from college, were paired together.

Sounds like Aussie producers may have been feeling a little ~inspired~!
