E.J. Got A Double Whammy Of Bad News On Days

On the Friday, May 17 episode of Days of Our Lives, Stefan made an end run around E.J. and went straight to Mayor Paulina, with devastating consequences. Plus, a drunken Nicole made a move on Eric, with equally disastrous results.

Smug E.J. Didn’t See the Train Coming

Stefan (Brandon Barash) once again tried to plead with E.J. (Daniel Feuerriegel) to reopen Li’s (Remington Hoffman) murder case. E.J., riding proudly atop his high horse, flat-out refused and walked away, after which Stefan muttered that his brother would regret it. One thing about the DiMeras, they always follow through with their threats, and that’s exactly what Stefan did.

He went to Paulina (Jackée Harry) and presented the evidence to her, which she also said was merely circumstantial. So Stefan rattled off a litany of why E.J. was refusing to look into it, and particularly mentioned that he was gearing up to become permanent CEO of DiMera Enterprises while simultaneously working as District Attorney. Upon hearing this, Paulina’s eyes widened as she realized it was a conflict of interest. This was a good example of why she’s a decent mayor because she’s not closed-minded and is always willing to listen to someone.

She ordered E.J. to come to her office and tore into him about angling for the CEO gig. In a most satisfying moment, when he asked if he was fired, she said he already was and told him to clear out his desk. An angry E.J. stormed straight to the mansion and downed an alcoholic beverage. It’s nice to (fianlly!) see E.J. taken down a peg. He was so smug in thinking he could not only railroad his brother into giving up on Gabi’s (last portrayed by Camila Banus) innocence and also have full control of DiMera forever that he didn’t see steam engine Paulina heading straight for him.

Nicole’s Loose Lips May Have Sunk Her Marriage

Meanwhile, Holly (Ashley Puzemis) and Nicole (Arianne Zucker) got into another bitter argument in which the young girl wished death upon herself and told her mother that all of her babies that died were better off because they didn’t have to have her as a mom. What a horrible thing to say! Feeling like a prisoner in her house and smothered, the angry teen used her words like deadly weapons, only to later regret it. She could probably make Mahatma Gandhi want to go and jump off a bridge. So, Nicole went and started drowning her sorrows at a bar. We half expected to find her in the gutter next to Leo (Greg Rikaart)! (Find out why Leo ended up a drunken mess).

But Eric was waiting for her to show up for work and called her when she didn’t. He found her and took her home, and she was just babbling on. She finally called him her knight in shining armor and, as a thank you, planted a large kiss on his lips, holding onto him tightly. Of course, E.J. was in the other room at the same time and stepped into the foyer to witness the whole mess. The look on his face was priceless as his day just went from bad to worse. However, the camera didn’t focus on Eric struggling to pull away from Nicole, but you could hear it, which indicates that once the dust settles, E.J. may realize the alcohol made her do it.

Yet, pondering further on this, will a distraught E.J. realize that she still has feelings for Eric that the booze simply unleashed? And if so, he’s probably going to adopt a scorched Earth policy and reveal the baby swap secret. But then again, that would have the reverse effect and drive Eric and Nicole together which is his worst fear, so it will be fun to see E.J. weighing his options after his explosive day.
