In the Days of our Lives recap for July 12, 2023, Rafe Hernandez loses his job thanks to Shawn’s big mouth…and you know…Rafe not keeping it in his pants.
Days of our Lives Recap Highlights
In addition, Marlena (Deidre Hall) seriously considered a request from Harris Michaels, Wendy (Victoria Grace) FINALLY decided between Johnny and Tripp (Lucas Adams), and Shawn FINALLY decided that he has a problem that needed addressing. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Days of our Lives Recap: Cop To It
An indignant Shawn (Brandon Beemer) railed against Rafe’s (Galen Gering) request for his badge and gun, arguing that, despite his soused state, he’d been very careful while spearheading the search for Megan (Miranda Wilson) and Dr. Rolf (Richard Wharton).
Rafe strenuously disagreed. Shawn pushed back and queried whether or not Rafe had been careful when he started having sex with one of his detectives. And how does Shawn know about Rafe and Jada’s affair? He got a first-hand account, of course.
Well, not exactly. In point of fact, he eavesdropped on Jada sharing the good news with Kate (Lauren Koslow) at the Brady Pub. But hey, “a detective’s gotta detect.” Right?
Now begs the burning question — what does Shawn intend to do with the information? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. He’s not a vindictive kind of guy. Luckily for Rafe.
Unfortunately for the pair, their rather loud conversation in the middle of the cop shop was overheard by Acting Mayor Clint Rawlings (Grayson Berry). He wanted answers, and he wanted them pronto. Shawn tried his best to backtrack, while Rafe stood his ground.
Enter Jada (Elia Cantu) whom Rawlings pulled into the interrogation room for a one-on-one conversation. When the two emerged, Rawlings demanded Rafe’s badge and gun. He was FIRED!
DOOL Recap: Oh The Places You’ll Go
At University Hospital, Harris (Steve Burton) insisted to Marlena (Deidre Hall) that the only way to make sure that he never hurts another person again is to have him committed to Bayview — immediately. Marlena hedged.
After all, the DiMeras had success brainwashing even the most resistant of minds — her husband’s included. And besides, why can’t Harris just check himself into the mental health facility? The answer? Because if he can c heck himself in, he can also check himself out.
“My mind has been so screwed with over the last few years, I just need some time to heal. For me, this is about survival. I mean, if I can’t rid myself of the fear that at any moment, I might lose control of who I am or who I want to be, I just don’t know if I can go on,” he said. So, will Marlena commit him, or not? Of course, she will.
DAYS Recap: Spoiled For Choice
Finally fed up with the waiting game, Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Tripp presented a united front where Wendy was concerned. They planned to respect her decision either way, but they needed to know — NOW — what her decision was. Which one of them is she choosing?
Wendy bid Tripp give her and Johnny some privacy, and while Johnny thought this meant he’d scored the girl, it was really Wendy’s way of letting him down gently. She wants Tripp and only Tripp. She thinks that Johnny is a great guy, and she cares about him a lot, but now isn’t their time. Also, she’s more than certain that Johnny would rather be with Chanel — despite his copious protests.
Opposite this, [supposedly] dejected Tripp swung by his pop’s place and received encouragement to fight for Wendy’s hand — but in a kind, respectful way, with decency and within boundaries. Because a woman does know her own mind, and that’s a fact.
Once the confusion was cleared up, Tripp and Wendy celebrated, and Johnny sulked. Surprise, surprise [NOT!], he was eventually brought out of himself by a concerned Chanel (Raven Bowens), fresh off tangling with that no-good, threat-spewing Rawlins — and a rather curious [off-screen] call with Allie.
Days of our Lives Recap: Wrap It Up
Convinced that his drinking might be impairing his judgment, Shawn sought out Marlena and asked for help. Elsewhere in the hospital, Kate (Lauren Koslow) — who’d early copped to putting Harris up to disappearing Megan to Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) — swung by the commander’s room to issue an apology.
