Disney night on Dancing with the Stars held extra-special meaning for one cast member.
On Tuesday, Oct. 22, Britt Stewart, a professional dancer on the show, took to her Instagram and TikTok to share a heartwarming video of herself dancing in her Lion King costume for one of the night’s group performances. The video was preceded by an older clip of her dancing to “We’re All in This Together” from Disney’s 2006 movie High School Musical.
“How it started.” “How it’s going,” the dancer, 35, wrote over the video.
“In honor of #disneynight on @dancingwiththestars “Once a WildCat, always a WildCat” ❤️🏀🐾 #DWTS #highschoolmusical,” she added in the caption.
Since posting, Stewart’s TikTok video has gone viral, garnering more than 320,000 views and 350 comments.
“BRITT HOW AM I JUST FINDING THIS OUT !?!” one user commented.
“An icon!! 🤩🫶🏾 Danced your way through the HSM series and now dancing your way through DWTS 😌,” someone else wrote.
“I just connected that you are not only my fav from DWTS but also from HSM?!😱 so awesome!!” another person added.
Before joining Dancing with the Stars in 2016, Stewart began her career as a principal dancer in all of the High School Musical movies. She also danced with Katy Perry on her Prismatic World Tour and performed with her during the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2015, and stared in Disney Channel’s 2013 Teen Beach Movie.
When she joined Dancing with the Stars, she made history as the first Black female professional dancer on season 29. Since then, she has been paired with a number of famous celebrities, including Johnny Weir, Martin Kove and her now-fiancé Daniel Durant. This season, Stewart was paired with actor Eric Roberts, but they were eliminated early in the competition.
“Eric, I am so incredibly proud of you. Not only did you grow in this process, but you’ve shown such courage, bravery, and determination—proving that it’s never too late to try something new,” the dancer wrote on Instagram after being eliminated this season.
“To step onto the dance floor, face challenges head-on, and give it your all despite the odds is a testament to your strength and spirit,” she continued. “It’s been such an honor getting to know you and [wife] Eliza; the time we’ve spent together in the studio has been unforgettable, and I will miss our daily moments. You’ve both become so special to me.”
“Here’s to embracing the beauty of every age, showing the world the importance of bravely learning something new and having the opportunity to show your heart outside of the many characters you’ve played in your career. See you in a minute!” she added.
In December 2023, Stewart announced with PEOPLE exclusively that she and her former dance partner Durant were engaged.
The couple were originally dance partners on Dancing with the Stars, finishing in fifth place during season 31, which aired from September to November 2022. They announced their relationship on Valentine’s Day of 2023, with Durant explaining to PEOPLE that their romance began to blossom after they were eliminated from the competition.
“We were both emotional, overwhelmed with joy and at peace knowing that this would eventually be part of our story,” Stewart told PEOPLE at the time. “It felt like magic, but at the same time, it felt right and normal.”
