Fans of Real Housewives will occasionally cast substitutions. However, others were taken aback by Crystal Kung Minkoff’s firing when they didn’t ask her to return for season 14 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Crystal gave her explanation for why she believes she was fired in an interview that she did in May on Jeff Lewis Live on SiriusXM. The actress was just one of many cast members of Real Housewives that left the Bravo series this year. Suddenly, a lot of the big personalities on the programs seemed to be gone, such Kandi Burruss from The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Why Crystal Minkoff thinks she wasn’t asked to return to RHOBH

Appearing on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live, Crystal Minkoff gave her take on why she thinks she was let go from her role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

She and Jeff lifted the lid on how the process works. He asked: “On April 12 you did the show, and two days later there was an announcement you would not be returning. Did you know at that time?”

Crystal said: “I was in talks. Yes. I was going down the path…”

Jeff asked if she was given the option of being a “friend of” the cast: “Do they give you those options?”

She said: “Usually, it’s just like the past few years for me are like let’s renew the contract, this was more of a conversation with me.

“So, it was like ‘how are you feeling about it?’”

She added how the show could be “hard” for her at times. The casting team reportedly opted out of having Crystal on board for season 14.

She said: “My family is like the most important thing, more important than any job I could have. And, the show is tough… it reveals a lot… I want to be protective of my family and my kids.”

Crystal confirmed how she has “always had boundaries.”

She added how that could have been a “struggle” for the producers of the show.

She agreed “more” was “wanted” from her, but concludes: “It was a good decision.”

Crystal no longer speaks to one co-star

After Crystal’s departure from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Jeff inquired as to whether she was still in touch with a former co-star.

Regarding the RHOBH women, Crystal expressed her belief that they “deserve a bajillion dollars” due to their immense generosity.

She clarified that she and Dorit are no longer in a relationship, saying, “She’s the only one that didn’t text me.”

But Crystal goes on to say that the celebrity was “probably dealing with her own contract.”
