Brittany Cartwright Says She’S “Skeptical” Of Jax Taylor’S Sobriety After He Admits Cocaine Addiction As She Talks Family “Trauma” And Calls Out His “Alarming” Behavior

Brittany Cartwright is speaking out about Jax Taylor‘s recent confirmation of his cocaine addiction.

After Jax, 45, appeared on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast, sharing with host Alex Baskin that he was nearly three months sober after two stints in rehab, Brittany, 35, looked back on the trauma and damage their family sustained as a result of Jax’s drug use while admitting that when it comes to his sobriety, his ongoing behavior has made her “skeptical.”

“I’m glad that he finally admitted to what was really going on,” Brittany told PEOPLE on March 4 in response to her estranged husband’s revelations. “For the first time, I can speak openly about the extent of trauma he’s instilled on our family over the years.”

According to Brittany, she tried “desperately to help” Jax but was unable.

“I pray that one day he completely knocks this addiction, but I’m skeptical. His behaviors are still alarming and his treatment plan seems to be the bare minimum,” she explained.

As she looked ahead to her future, Brittany said she was focused on their son, three-year-old Cruz Michael Cauchi.

“I’m trying to navigate this as best as I can for my son and I, but every day is still a challenge and very difficult. Jax has caused an enormous amount of damage and I have very little trust in him at this point,” she admitted. “My only hope is that one day, he will be a better person for his son.”

Brittany went on to reveal that she would speak more about the topic on the upcoming episode of her podcast, When Reality Hits, which is set to premiere on Friday, March 7. And the issue will be addressed even further on the second season of The Valley.

“As the new season of The Valley unfolds, a lot of shocking details will come to the surface,” a source told PEOPLE last August. “Since nothing has been off-limits, it may end up being the most unpredictable, no-holds-barred seasons to ever appear on reality television yet.”

On Tuesday’s episode of Bravo’s Hot Mic, after confirming he was an addict, Jax admitted he made an early exit from his second stint in treatment.

“I didn’t stay the full time,” he shared. “I ended up staying 17 days. I felt like, for me, that was enough. I was like, ‘You know what? Another 14 days is not gonna do anything. I know that I’m good.’”

No word yet on a premiere date for The Valley season two.
