Brittany Cartwright broke her social media silence following her shock divorce filing from Jax Taylor on Tuesday.
The Vanderpump Rules star, 35 – who has been married to Taylor, 45, since 2019 – shared a glamorous snap as she moved on from her marriage.
The star wore hot pink and sported a glamorous make-up look in the snap captioned: ‘Getting my sparkle back.’
Brittany cited irreconcilable differences as her reason for ending the marriage.
DailyMail.com has contacted a representative for Cartwright and NBCUniversal, Bravo’s parent company, for comment.
The couple, who wed in a lavish wedding that aired on Vanderpump Rules, have a three-year-old son Cruz together. Brittany has requested primary legal and physical custody over the child however is open to visitation for her ex.
Additionally, Cartwright is seeking to block the ability of the court to award either one of them with spousal support.
Cartwright cited their date of separation as January 24.
The filing comes days after Taylor left a mental health facility. A rep for Taylor previously told Us Weekly he was set to depart last week.
Cartwright and Taylor wed in 2019 but separated this past February.
The couple’s early romance was chronicled on the Bravo series Vanderpump Rules and the breakdown of their marriage was captured on the spin-off, The Valley, with Cartwright revealing she had moved out their marital residence with son Cruz.
‘A lot has happened with me and Jax,’ Brittany said in a confessional. ‘We were already having issues all summer long, but once the cameras stopped rolling, things just seemed like they were getting worse and worse and worse.
‘So about six weeks ago, I separated from Jax. I moved into an AirBnb with Cruz because Jax would not leave the house,’ she said on the finale.
Brittany said that Jax not moving out showed his selfishness. Brittany said she left with their three-year-old son Cruz because the situation at home was toxic. Brittany said Jax would come with a hangover and in the morning would be ‘mean as a snake.’
‘I just hit this point where I just started noticing everything that he did to me,’ Brittany said. ‘It just hit me like a ton of bricks.’
Brittany said during their relationship that Jax cheated on her, disrespected her and humiliated her.
‘I have been through a lot of pain in this relationship,’ Brittany said. ‘I just can’t deal with it anymore.’
Following their separation, Brittany revealed the real reason why they split and told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview that they had issues in their marriage for years.
She explained how the birth of their first child Cruz in 2021 made her reevaluate her marriage to the controversial Vanderpump Rules villain.
‘So for me, it was just kind of like taking up for myself. Having a child really woke me up and lifted a veil a little bit of what I deserve and what I am going to put up with for the rest of my life,’ she said.
‘And I just knew that I had to … figure out what I want to do for my future and make things a super positive living situation for my son. That’s all that I care about.’
Cartwright also shared in April that her ‘sexless marriage’ with Jax made her hit her ‘breaking point’ and admitted they’ve discussed dating other people amid separation, saying ‘I don’t want to be unhappy for the rest of my life.’
In an interview with Us Weekly, the Vanderpump Rules alum said that her and Taylor’s sex life had ‘dwindled so much’ in recent years and that it began to affect her self esteem.
‘I felt like I wasn’t good enough. If you start to feel like your partner doesn’t want you and they’re also being mean to you, it’s like, ‘What am I doing here?’ I’m basically living with a roommate. I hit my breaking point,’ she explained.
When she tried to speak to Taylor about their lack of sex, Cartwright claimed that he would tell her was ’44 and I’m tired’ — an answer that didn’t suffice for her.
Brittany also admitted that the couple came under financial strain when they were fired from Vanderpump Rules in 2020 – which contributed to fractures in their marriage.
‘It was definitely a difficult time in our relationship,’ she confessed.
‘It kind of shifted gears where I became the breadwinner because I was still working, I was doing commercials and different brand deals,’ she continued.
‘I was super lucky to have all that happen for me, but Jax wasn’t having the same stuff happening for him. So it was a big shift in our relationship that kind of took a toll for a while.’
Last month on an episode of his and Cartwright’s When Reality Hits podcast, Jax revealed he and Cartwright were still, ‘trying to exhaust everything’ before considering divorcing.
‘I am not — I repeat not — dating anybody. I was seen out with someone and it was strictly lunch. Obviously, Brittany and I are separated and have been for a long time. What we are going through right now is tough. Marriage is not easy,’ he explained.
The bar owner continued: ‘We are trying to figure out a lot of different things: therapy, separation, and maybe, possibly, dating other people.’
‘We are trying to exhaust everything before we have to go down the divorce road — if that would be the case,’ he told listeners. ‘Part of taking some time apart means exploring other people. All marriages are different, but this is what is good for our marriage.’
Brittany previously reconciled with Jax in 2017 after it was revealed that he had cheated on her with their costar Faith Stowers.
She said she ‘stuck by him’ through their tumultuous times but said continuous fighting in front of their young son was the final straw for her to break away.
Brittany and Jax started dating in 2015, two years before he admitted to infidelity.
But they stayed together and got engaged in 2018, married at the Kentucky Castle in the Cartwright’s home state in June 2019 and welcomed their son Cruz in 2021.
Jax and Brittany are currently starring in the Vanderpump Rules spin-off The Valley.
The dramatic series follows the pair, as well as Kristen Doute and other members of their friend group, as they navigate married life and parenthood in L.A.’s San Fernando Valley.
