Blue Bloods, once an unstoppable force in the world of cop dramas, is beginning to show signs of wear and tear. Season 13 has not been kind to our favorite Reagans, according to some disappointed fans.
Fans are left scratching their heads and wondering, “What happened?” to what was once a powerhouse drama full of gripping stories and compelling characters. Some argue that the writing in Season 13 has lost its mojo. The plots are becoming ridiculous, and characters we’ve known for over a decade are acting…well, out of character.
Consider our briskness. In the season 13 premiere storyline, Jamie, for example, is recovering from a gut shot as if he has superhuman healing abilities. Or Eddie… Don’t get fans started on this unfortunate character – it’s as if there’s an endless stream of hatred for her.
Some fans believe the Reagans have lost their way in this season, even going so far as to call the show “beyond ridiculous.” Of course, every television show has its supporters.
Some fans argue that Blue Bloods continues to tackle real-world issues in a way that distinguishes it from other cop dramas. They say the show isn’t as melodramatic as others in the genre, such as The Rookie or 911.
And the good guys are always winning, with yet another family dinner to celebrate? For some, that is all the comfort they require. Blue Bloods’ renewal for a 14th season, despite budget and salary cuts, has sparked a debate that is far from over.
“How much is too much?” some fans wonder, implying that the Reagans should hang up their badges.
But keep in mind that TV history is littered with cop dramas that have managed to maintain their allure for years. Anyone watching Law & Order or NCIS? They’ve done it, and perhaps Blue Bloods can as well. After all, some fans swear that the show will continue until Tom Selleck rides off into the sunset.
So, as Season 14 approaches, the question remains: Can Blue Bloods recapture the magic that first drew us in? We’ll have to see what happens.
