The author’s opinions on Y&R are his and his alone. They’re suitably scathing, fairly humorous, and normally bang on target. When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.The Young and the Restless: The Critic Offers His Take

I…did not hate this week’s offering of Young and Restless content. But cards on the table, that’s mostly owing to the plethora of flashbacks to Cameron Kirsten’s (Linden Ashby) original reign of terror. Good times, good times.

That granted, I’d like to pointedly point out to Josh Griffith that attempts to excuse away the innumerable flaws in your own plotting by having a character [in this case, Chance Chancellor] shrug and casually observe “It’s kind of sketchy” doesn’t pass muster. As I groused in my last column, the amount of disbelieve we’re being asked to suspend is bordering on the egregious [did Summer (Allison Lanier) really not suspect that maybe her dubious husband might stalk her movements like he’d done only a day previous?] and I think it would behoove Y&R greatly to start introducing even a modicum of sense into their plot lines.Further Y&R Musings

* And just when I about convinced myself that I’d never again see Sharon’s (Sharon Case) abode again there it was in all its [downsized] glory. Kudos to the soap for also keeping the GAC lobby set standing. What a sight for sore eyes it’s turned out to be.

* Boy, The Young and the Restless sure shoved Noah (Rory Gibson) and Allie (Kelsey Wang) off the canvas without a bye or leave, huh?

* Does it really track that Victor (Eric Braeden) would give the likes of Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) his seal of approval? Could it be, is it possible, even considering that Vic has already rumbled Nate’s subterfuge and is playing games of his own? [Then again, could I be reading WAY too much into this?]
