Kathy Hilton doesn’t think Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky will be able to work through the issues they are currently facing in their marriage.
Months into the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills couple’s separation, Kathy, 64, appeared on a morning show alongside daughter Paris Hilton, 42, where she shared her thoughts on Kyle, 54, and Mauricio’s future while also addressing Kyle’s dating life, her potential return to RHOBH, and Paris’ baby surprise on Paris in Love.
“When I first saw it, I was just like, it just broke my heart,” Kathy said of Kyle and Mauricio’s separation news on the November 27 episode of Today. “But I just think that, unfortunately, I just want, Kyle — believe it or not — she’s the youngest, but she’s the strongest. She’s [the] bossiest. So she’s very strong. She’s resilient, and I love my nieces. I just want her to be happy.”
While Kathy hopes her younger sibling will find happiness, she doesn’t believe it will be with Mauricio, 53, despite the fact that the two of them recently celebrated Thanksgiving together. Kathy believes that Kyle’s decision to ask Mauricio for a separation is proof she is 100% done.
“Honestly you’re asking me? There’s no way that Kyle would have gone this far unless she really thought about it,” Kathy noted.
“She’s hotter than ever though,” Paris replied.
Kathy then said that once Kyle and Mauricio make a permanent decision about their marriage, “the dating’s gonna start … and I’m gonna go.”
According to Kathy, who recently celebrated her 44th wedding anniversary with Rick Hilton, 68, who she married when she was 19 and he was 23, she credits growing up with Rick and moving to New York together at a young age for their success.
“We did it all on our own and I think had we — a lot of people assumed we’re rich — I think that could’ve been a big problem. We worked together. I worked. He worked. And I think just keeping the right people around, the right couples that you associate with and always keeping that little bit of [spice],” she explained.
And as for her marriage advice, she added, “I would say open communication and never, ever take anyone for granted.”
Moving on to Paris’ Peacock series, Kathy recalled meeting Paris’ son, Phoenix, now 10 months, for the first time on camera.
“Oh my goodness. It was the biggest surprise of my life. I thought it was, honestly, a puppy or a monkey,” Kathy admitted of Paris’ first child (she welcomed a second, daughter London, earlier this month).
“She’s the best grandma,” Paris gushed of Kathy. “She’s always coming up and surprising. I’ll come home and she’ll be in the nursery with Phoenix. She loves coming over and surprising us.”
Also on Today, Kathy was asked about appearing on future episodes of RHOBH.
“You never know,” she teased.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 13 airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
