Erika Jayne is addressing claims that she set up Sutton Stracke in Las Vegas.
Following last week’s episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which saw Erika, 52, confronting Sutton, 52, with her longtime friend Mikey Minden and his boyfriend, Davis, who performed in the Magic Mike show that Sutton stormed out of, Erika denied the moment was calculated as she also confirmed she’s been asked to return to Broadway.
“As a group, we were all in our suite, we were getting ready to leave Las Vegas. We were standing, literally, at the door. And if you know anything about these shows, there is always coverage,” Erika recalled during a November 15 episode of Instagram Live, via Heavy, noting that a producer caught her elevator moment with Sutton on their cell phone.
“We were on our way out, the f***ing elevators opened. I see Davis, and I go, ‘This is it. Sutton, this is your moment. Apologize to the wonderful performers walking out of their show.’ And I think everybody including me was a little gagged,” Erika continued. “It was like the reality TV gods had dropped this moment in my lap, and I jumped all over it. It is what it is. You can’t make it up.
Although Erika denied the moment was pre-planned, Sutton seemed convinced it was, saying in a cast confessional that “Erika specifically, intentionally embarrassed me.”
Still, amid her Instagram Live session, Erika pointed out that Las Vegas elevators aren’t something she can control.
“You can not set up Las Vegas elevators. If so, I could set up the weather, and if so I could set up a better life for myself and it wouldn’t be here,” she stated.
As for her potential return to Broadway, Erika, whose 2020 role as Roxie Hart in Chicago was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, said she’d love to go back.
“I would do Broadway again. I really would, and they asked, but I’m busy with something else. But yes I would love to go back,” she confirmed, via Heavy, seemingly signaling to her current residency in Las Vegas.
“There’s this funny thing where life imitates art, but sometimes art imitates life. When I was doing Roxie, my life was falling apart, which not a lot of people know,” Erika went on. “And then March 2020 came and the whole world shut down, and then my life continued to fall apart, in many parallels [to] the way Roxie did. So if I went back and played Roxie now, there’d be so much more understanding. It would be a different Roxie but for a lot of different reasons.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 13 airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
