Doug Davidson shared on social media that he experienced a significant health crisis after testing positive for COVID-19 last week.

The Young and the Restless alum Doug Davidson (Paul Williams) took to social media to detail a recent, harrowing health crisis and to praise the first responders who very well might have saved his life.

On October 12, Davidson posted a photo of a positive COVID test and shared that he had contracted COVID-19. “It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt,” Davidson captioned the photo.

Over the weekend, Davidson updated fans on his condition.

“As some of you are aware, I came back from the Dominican Republic with Covid,” he wrote. “After three days, I had significant trouble breathing, and I’d like to give a shout out to these fine agencies who were exceptional on every level. 1st: The 911 operator, she was absolutely fantastic. 2nd The Summerland/Carpinteria, fire district and 3rd: Cottage Hospital emergency Department! Hats off to all of them. They were incredible in every regard. Thank you so much!!!”

Davidson offered no additional details.

Davidson’s former on-screen wife, Lauralee Bell (Christine Blair), replied to Davidson’s post with, “Thanks to all of them who helped you! Thank God for first responders!! So appreciated!!”

Tracey E. Bregman (Lauren Fenmore) added, “Hope you are doing much better now. So sorry you had such a hard time. Sending much love”

Don Diamont (Bill Spencer, The Bold and the Beautiful; ex-Brad Carlton, Y&R) also weighed in with, “Thank God for the great care on every level! GET WELL!”

Davidson joined The Young and the Restless in May 1978. Back in July, the Emmy-winning actor revealed that he had cleared out the last of his belongings from his former dressing room at Y&R.
