If there is anything Days of our Lives fans can agree on, it’s that the show is at its best when it remembers and honors its history. You want to see classic couples like Marlena and John, Kayla and Steve, and Belle and Shawn on the front burner. You loved Bo’s return, brief as it was, and Shane’s even briefer one. You hate it when the show ignores huge swaths of its past, like John’s neverending paternity rewrite, or crimes committed by folks like Xander, Bonnie, Ava, Gwen, etc….Which is why we were so excited when Vivian made it clear she knew exactly where she was coming from.
Days of our Lives: Just Say No
Chad (Billy Flynn) was deeply offended when Vivian (Louise Sorel) announced her plans to return to Titan to its roots and start selling drugs again. Stephanie (Abigail Klein) found it funny. As did Kayla (Mary Beth Evans). Steve (Stephan Nichols), strangely, didn’t have much to say on the matter. Like many others, he doesn’t discuss his own past much. Oh, sure, he’s happy to talk about how he was abused by his father, abandoned by his mother, got his eye poked out by Bo (Peter Reckell), and lived on the streets until meeting the love of his life, Kayla. He doesn’t mention nearly as often his first job in Salem: Selling drugs for Savannah (Shannon Tweed). Who was moving them for Victor (John Aniston).
Vivian Alamain: Thanks for the Memories
At least Vivian remembers. She understands that just like a soap can always win back old fans by honoring its past, a company can make more money by going back to what made it successful in the first place. Savannah went to jail almost thirty-five years ago. Surely, she must be out by now. If John (Drake Hogestyn) doesn’t want to come work for his Auntie Viv, maybe Savannah is available. She, Steve, and Vivian can go back to what built the Kiriakis empire. And make it better than ever.
