Sister Wives – Kody’S Bro Moments (“Testosterone Tuesdays”) Are Comedy Gold

Kody Brown’s a controversial Sister Wives patriarch who’s been leaning on his brothers and buddies during season 18, and some of the scenes are “laugh out loud” funny, even when they’re supposed to be poignant. Kody’s feeling the pressure during this installment of the popular show, and his attempts to understand himself, with the help of his “bros,” are just too easy to mock. While he’s not all bad, Kody says and does things that are unintentionally hilarious. His ego, bad temper, and signature lack of self-awareness mean that he’s an easy target.

Season Wives season 18’s really heating up. Kody and Janelle Brown are ripping each other apart onscreen. In 17 seasons, they’ve never gone this far. Also, Kody’s still licking his wounds due to Christine Brown’s shocking departure. Kody’s remarkably vulnerable right now, and seems to be wallowing in self-pity. His “man time,” as Robyn Brown calls it, appears to be the only thing that soothes the savage beast. As per the show, he’s all about, “testosterone Tuesdays.” Downtime with male friends allows him to escape from the unhappy women in his life.

Kody Thinks Janelle Doesn’t Listen, But His “Bros” Are There For Him

Kody’s “bromances” are helping him to deal with the stress in his life. He’s facing himself in a way that, quite possibly, he’s never done before. Used to bossing women around, Kody’s perplexed by the fact that every single wife is putting him down… even Sobbin’ Robyn! When a person’s very into control, and people begin to resist that control, things can get ugly fast. Kody’s spouses, including Christine, who thankfully fled, all took his orders for too long. Now, they’re finally asserting themselves. In terms of boosting drama during Sister Wives season 18, Kody’s reactions (as shown during chats with his “bros”) are priceless.

Kody had big “TV dreams.” He wanted to show the world that polygamy was a respectable thing, and that people living in that type of arrangement could thrive, rather than just survive. Now, everyone seems to want out. Even Robyn’s getting tired of life with an increasingly tyrannical and moody Kody. The patriarch’s self-esteem is very contingent on being a patriarch, and now, he’s really off balance.

The beleaguered patriarch’s unraveling, and getting real with his “bros” as he comes apart at the seams. In one memorable “bro” chat, Kody wasn’t quite sure that he’d feel jealous if Christine moved on with another man. Doesn’t that speak volumes? Any man who loved a wife would definitely be rattled if she got romantic with someone else! Kody doesn’t know who he is right now, and can’t acknowledge one central truth – he ruined the Brown family by favoring Robyn.

His comments about jealousy are hilarious because he can’t see the truth that’s right there in front of him, even though everyone else in the world knows what’s up, including Janelle, Christine and Meri Brown. How can Kody be so blind? Is he just pretending not to understand? If so, he definitely deserves the shade that comes his way. If he truly doesn’t comprehend, that’s different. However, it’s hard to believe he’s not processing this essential truth about his life. Its ramifications are crystal clear.

Kody Loves Robyn – He’s Fond Of Janelle

Kody can’t help loving Robyn, and he’s not wrong to love her. Love’s never wrong. Love’s beautiful. It’s just that he’s been faking polygamy for so long, phoning it in to pacify three wives who were more than intuitive enough to know which way the wind was blowing. It’s actually kind of sad in a way.

With Robyn, Kody fell in love for real. He may not have expected Cupid’s arrow to travel straight through his heart. Once that happened, the whole Brown family dynamic shifted. Kody was passionately in love with one wife, and probably didn’t love the others at all. Of course, the three remaining wives know this. It may have taken them a while to accept it, and that’s why this whole mess, including the legendary Battle of Coyote Pass, dragged on endlessly.

The three spouses who were emotionally left behind needed time to face reality. In season 18, Christine’s made peace with the situation, and Janelle’s starting to really understand. Things are changing, and while it’s happening, this type of sea change causes so much pain. Once acceptance is achieved, life gets easier. Kody hasn’t accepted Christine’s exit, and he’s afraid that Janelle will follow suit. Meri might, too.

It’s such a precarious time for the Browns. Feelings are raw, and only Christine’s moved past the pain. Even she may feel it sometimes.

Kody doesn’t love Meri. He’s repeatedly humiliated her, and refused to forgive her for the unfortunate catfishing scandal, which probably happened because Meri felt emotionally abandoned (which she was). Kody’s macho insensitivity’s a problem, and one more reason why he runs to his bros when life gets hard. With them, he can escape the uncanny intuition of women. He can escape the strong emotions that women evoke in him when they’re unhappy. He can just be a “bro,” talking it out with men who aren’t 100 percent invested, feelings-wise. No wonder this feels so good!

Kody’s Mired In Self-Deception

While unloading with his “bros,” Kody wondered if, “self-deception” was impacting his state of mind. That possibly (and hilariously) signaled a glimmer of self-understanding. In a different conversation, he said that, “anger is a sword that stabs indiscriminately.” He was referring to the rage that divorce can bring. Right now, he’s circling around the truth, getting closer to it, but then psychologically retreating. His anger and self-deception need to be faced bravely, head-on. When they are, progress may be possible. Kody needs to evolve, and now’s as good a time as any. Right?

When Kody uttered the memorable words, “The flames are on the bridge” during Sister Wives season 18 episode 3, it was yet another bad analogy. He was trying to say that he was burning his bridges, or a wife was, or whatever. Anyone who thought the Brown family would survive Kody’s love for Robyn was so wrong. Now, Janelle’s hopping mad because Kody gave her a ridiculous ultimatum. He wanted her to kick her sons out of her home because they wouldn’t follow his Draconian COVID-19 rules. Janelle was adamant that all of them were following CDC guidelines.

All the “bro” time in the world isn’t going to take the sting out of all of this, but through the Sister Wives season 18 episodes, Kody can try to ease his suffering while engaging in some truly absurd chats with his male relatives and friends. The more guy talk, the better, because this stuff is really, really funny.
