In the Days of our Lives recap for August 31, 2023, Stefan and Gabi deduce the identity of his nephew’s secret lover.

Days of our Lives Recap Highlights

In addition, Dimitri and Leo earn a (temporary) win, and everything comes up roses for Philip Kiriakis Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.

Days of our Lives Recap: Persistence Pays Off

Though assuredly on the right track, Stefan (Brandon Barash) and Gabi (Camila Banus) still had plenty of questions about Dimitri’s (Peter Porte) sidepiece, namely, why didn’t he just marry her instead of Gwen (Emily O’Brien)? Is it possible that she’s already engaged or *GASP* married?

Stefan floated the idea that perhaps convenience played a part in it — Gwen just happened to be in the right place at the right time — but Gabi was sure there had to be more to it than that.

That agreed, Gabi headed for the couple’s room to do some snooping, leaving Stefan to stand guard. No sooner had Gabi started riffling than Gwen arrived, desperate for a nibble and a nap. Stefan and Gabi tried to put on an act, but Gwen saw right through them. Unfortunately, she didn’t have the good sense to keep the fact that Leo (Greg Rikaart) had been the third wheel during her and Dimitri’s honeymoon to herself.

Between that bit of news and Gabi finding a receipt for the hotel showing that Dimitri booked two rooms, Gabi and Stefan could but conclude that there was no other woman in Dimitri’s life…just Leo Stark!

DAYS Recap: Where There’s A Will

Opposite the above, Leo endeavored to put on his best impersonation of Gwen. But try as he and Dimitri might, they couldn’t pull one over on Elliot Roth (Darren Richardson). He’d been to far too many drag shows with his husband not to rumble the scheme.

That said, Elliot could tell that Leo had been speaking from the heart, and it was obvious to him that the two gentlemen were very much in love. What’s more, he didn’t intend to let some archaic and homophobic legal document keep Dimitri — and his lover — from enjoying all that lovely money…but the other Von Leuschners won’t be so generous. So, if Dimitri wants the checks to keep coming, he’ll have to pretend that Gwen is the only one for him.

DOOL Recap: Free Range

At the Brady Pub, Brady (Eric Martsolf) was chagrined to learn that Belle (Martha Madison) had agreed to represent Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier). He was even more so when she begged him not to press charges against his uncle.

Brady scoffed that it now made perfect sense why he hadn’t heard back from Shawn (Brandon Beemer), prompting Belle to explain that Shawn was under a 24-hour psyche hold. Luckily, there was something that Brady could do to help her…don’t press charges against Philip.

Brady, at first, didn’t seem the least bit interested in letting Philip slide. Enter Kristen to make some snide remarks about Brady being under a cloud of suspicion for Philip’s “murder.” And just like that, Brady was cool with letting Philip slide.

Meanwhile, Xander (Paul Telfer) learned that Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) had been harboring Philip in their spare bedroom and decided that it was A-okay, considering he initially thought the noise maker was a hidden Brady.
