Sister Wives- Robyn, Meri, Janelle & Christine All Have Claddagh Rings (Here’S What They Mean)

Sister Wives season 18 has just gotten started, but many are digging up moments from the past with questions, like some who are wondering what the matching rings Kody Brown’s wives all wear. For Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine Brown, their marriages to Kody are now over, but their time spent with the patriarch of their family has been nothing short of transformative. For Robyn Brown, Kody’s only remaining wife, her role has shifted considerably since becoming monogamous on principle. Although Sister Wives season 18 is covering the dissolution of Kody’s marriages to Janelle and Meri, the women have all been featured discussing their changing family.

While Kody has been shown as angry throughout Sister Wives season 18 thus far, his anger has been primarily focused on Christine and the wedge she’s driven between himself and the rest of his family. As the last wife standing, Robyn has likely faked her reactions to the breakup of the Brown family, especially knowing that she’s currently pushing for a monogamous lifestyle with Kody. Regardless of where they stand, the women have spent time over the last decade assimilating into a family together. Their unconventional family has pushed many to wonder about the matching rings Kody’s wives have worn.

What Is A Claddagh Ring?

Although they have yet to be seen much on Sister Wives season 18, Kody’s wives have worn Claddagh rings for years. The Claddagh ring is typically an Irish symbol that is worn in different ways to indicate whether the person wearing it has a partner or is looking for a partner. The ring typically features two hands holding a heart with a crown on it. If the heart is facing outwards, away from the person wearing it, they’re looking for a partner. If the heart is facing inwards, toward the person wearing it, they’re in a relationship or someone has “taken” their heart.

Why Do Kody’s Wives Wear Claddagh Rings?

On past seasons of Sister Wives, Kody’s wives have been shown both wearing and shopping for Claddagh rings. When Robyn joined the family in 2014, Meri, Janelle, and Christine were all shown shopping for a Claddagh ring to welcome Robyn into the family with. Each of Kody’s wives appears to wear the ring as a symbol of their commitment to Kody and their plural marriage. Though Christine, Janelle, and Meri aren’t often seen wearing their rings anymore, they did have them for years and weren’t shy about discussing them on Sister Wives.

Who Is Still Wearing A Claddagh Ring In The Brown Family?

After the implosion of his marriage to Christine, which Kody still hasn’t forgiven her for, it was presumed she wouldn’t be wearing her Claddagh ring anymore. Meri and Janelle have more recently stopped wearing their own rings, though Robyn has been shown during Sister Wives interview segments as wearing hers. One of the most interesting parts about the Brown family’s Claddagh rings is that at a certain age, they began giving the rings out to their daughters. Now, not only do the Sister Wives of the Brown family have them, but the older female children of the family have them as well.
