The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Summer Newman-Abbott’s (Allison Lanier) hatred for Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) is growing stronger every day. Diane has been framed for Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) murder – and Summer has unfortunately bought the setup.
Of course, it’s understandable that Summer would think the worst of Diane in this situation. Summer already didn’t trust Diane, so she’s just believing the same evidence that the cops arrested her for.
Y&R fans also can’t forget that Summer watched Diane put Phyllis in a chokehold and act like she should strangle her rival to death. Since that happened shortly before Phyllis’ demise, it’s easy to see why Summer would point the finger.
However, none of that changes the fact that Diane is innocent. Phyllis and Jeremy Stark (James Hyde) set Diane up to take the fall for Phyllis’ grim fate, but Summer’s mom is still alive.
You can bet Summer will battle some guilt over how she’s treated Diane as well as Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) once Phyllis’ fake death news comes out.
Summer is so consumed with Diane disdain that she actually told Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) not to get distracted looking for Stark proof. In reality, Jeremy is far more culpable – or at least he was before Phyllis stabbed him to death in self-defense.
Nevertheless, the biggest shocker in all this for Summer will be the fact that Phyllis pretended to die – mostly just to get back at Diane. That’s surely going to unleash Summer’s fury like never before and put her on Diane’s side instead.
Phyllis’ scheme will backfire on a whole new level if she inadvertently pushes Summer and Diane closer.
Summer will no doubt offer a heartfelt apology down the road and beg Diane’s forgiveness for all the harsh, horrible things she’s said.
Diane doesn’t hold Summer’s behavior against her and gets that it’s mostly the grief talking here. Since Phyllis is responsible for Summer going off the rails, Diane may insist she only blames Stark and Summer’s twisted mother.
Diane may forgive Summer immediately and embrace the chance to rebuild their relationship. Summer could easily end up bonding with Diane due to Phyllis’ fiasco, which is the last thing her mom wants!
