In the Days of our Lives recap for July 31, 2023, Leo prioritizes his libido rather than his friendship.
Days of our Lives Recap Highlights
In addition, Sloan continued on as she intended to go (AKA being all kinds of terrible), Eric shared some most joyful-ish news, and Rafe (Galen Gering) and Jada (Elia Cantu) decided to get going while the going was good and have a night to themselves. (They can do that now that he no longer has a job to worry about.) Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Days of our Lives Recap: Dos And Don’ts
At the DiMera mansion, everybody stood in shock, mouths agape. Why had Leo (Greg Rikaart) objected to Dimitri (Peter Porte) and Gwen’s (Emily O’Brien) marriage? What, exactly, did he mean when he said he couldn’t let her marry that man?
Particularly flummoxed were the “OG bride and groom” Gabi (Camila Banus) and Stefan (Brandon Barash). Gabi objected to the “psychodrama” unfolding beside her and demanded that the trio either stop sniveling or get out. She had a wedding to get through.
Gwen bid Leo talk to her and tell her what was wrong. Dimitri implored him to accept the situation, as his and Gwen’s marrying would “enrich all our lives.” With that, Leo’s resolve evaporated, and he offered Gwen and Dimitri “blessings upon blessings.”
With that, the show got back on the road, and soon Stefan and Gabi and Dimitri and Gwen were named husband and wife. Kisses, polite clapping, and on with the reception! Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) attempted to interest EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) in placing odds on how long Gabi and Stefan will make it as marrieds (she’s pretty sure they’ll be over and done within six months), but he begged off — better man and all that.
Rafe and Jada wished Gabi and Stefan their best, debated what in the world got into Leo, then took their leave…which really rather stifled Gwen’s plan to toss her bouquet Jada’s way.
Dimitri took Leo aside for a stern talking to, then got sidetracked feeding his lover a slice of cake. Despite walking in on the men getting far too close for comfort, Gwen remained oblivious to the obvious. She was, however, interested in hearing what the two had been plotting, so it remained for Dimitri to tell her that, thanks to Leo, he planned to take her on a honeymoon trip to…to…where was that place again? ICELAND! Yes, Iceland! (Iceland? Seriously?).
DAYS Recap: Baby Blues
Meanwhile, at University Hospital, while Nicole (Arianne Zucker) went full Karen on a hapless nurse who couldn’t locate her test results, Sloan (loudly) discussed the pros and cons of Nicole and Eric (Greg Vaughan) learning that he’s the father of her baby.
In the end, Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) decided that it was best for all if she kept that page of information to herself, returned the rest of the packet to Nicole, and lied her tush off about how she came into possession of it in the first place. Despite the odds, it all went rather swimmingly.
DOOL Recap: Family Is Family
Opposite the above, Eric filled Sami (Alison Sweeney) (via one-way phone) in on his and Sloan’s good news. Her response? “At least Nicole isn’t the mother.” After hanging up on his sister, Eric relayed the announcement to Roman (Josh Taylor) and Kate (Lauren Koslow). Roman wasn’t exactly best pleased…not that he’s not thrilled to become a grandfather, mind you, it’s just that…Sloan? Of all the people Eric could have a baby with?
Luckily for all involved, Roman remembered that every child is a blessing, regardless of its parents. Kate, on the other hand, was thrilled for Eric. After all, she’d been the one to encourage the two to have a baby in the first place. Remember that?
Days of our Lives Recap: The Wrap-Up
Seeing as how it’s their wedding (or, at least, half their wedding), Gabi and Stefan forwent the remainder of the reception and headed upstairs to get a jump start on the honeymoon. Elsewhere, Rafe and Jada decided to continue their night together in her bedroom.
Back at the DiMera mansion, Nicole returned just in time to hear all about Gwen and Dimitri’s own (slightly weird) honeymoon plans and to present EJ with “their” baby’s clean bill of health. Rejoice!
Over at the Brady Pub, Sloan had a confession to make to Eric. No, she didn’t admit that he was the father of Nicole’s baby. As if! But she did cop to heading to the hospital rather than visiting Colin (Jasper Newman) as she claimed. Baby steps. Pun intended.
