Days Recap: A Stunned Lani Finds A Very Alive And Drugged Abe

In the Days of our Lives recap for July 14, 2023, Lani gets quite the lead on her supposedly dead dad.

Days of our Lives Recap Highlights

In addition, Whitley (Kim Coles) throws Jerry (Terrell Ransom, Jr.) right under the metaphorical bus, and Brady (Eric Martsolf) rips up his peace offering to Kristen (Stacy Haiduk). Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.

Days of our Lives Recap: Eye Spy

Despite his better judgment, Jerry allowed Lani (Sal Stowers) into his abode, resulting in her taking notice of his luggage. Is he going somewhere? Yes, back to California to give the whole acting thing another try.

Truth be told, Jerry might want to give serious consideration to another profession. No sooner had Lani begun giving him the hard sell about why it’s so important to her to get to the bottom of her father’s death than Jerry dropped all semblance of pretense and bellowed that his whole story had been a lie.

What does he mean his whole story was a lie, a perplexed Lani wondered. Jerry then proceeded to vomit the truth all over Lani. He might have been at the docks that day, but Abe (James Reynolds) very much was not. And yes, Abe’s blood might have been found and the scene [ditto his hospital ID bracelet], but Jerry planted them.

Lani’s gut instinct was to assume that Abe had met an untoward fate at Jerry’s hand, but Jerry confessed it was all Nurse Whitley King’s doing. He was a mere patsy. A very, very sorry patsy.

Opposite this, a sedated Abe found himself staring at a version of himself inside the Body and Soul universe. Much like Abe, Henry Marshall — the most powerful ice cream magnate in the world — was all out of sorts and recently discharged from the hospital. Much like Abe, Henry Marshall was being primed to run for the town’s mayorship.

Much like Abe, Henry Marshall found Sandra Clarkington (Jackée Harry) a mite familiar. Soon the real world was infiltrating the reel world at an alarming rate. A sense of déjà vu seized Abe/Henry. And suddenly, the knocking sounds coming from somewhere in TV land manifested in Lani barging through Whitley’s front door and coming face-to-face with Abe.

DAYS Recap: Tough Spots

At University Hospital, Whitley informed a curious Steve (Stephen Nichols) that she was indeed heading for new pastures. Well, old pastures. Her home city of Scottsdale, Arizona, to be more precise. Steve thought that would be nice for her…especially with so much family around, like her four siblings.

But wait! How did Steve know about her family? Why, from the background check done by the FBI, of course. Further haranguing from Steve finally resulted in Whitley declaring that it wasn’t her but rather Jerry, who was the last person to see Abe on the day he went missing from the hospital. Or at least, probably. After all, Jerry was hanging around Abe’s room — she saw him [NOT!].

With that new information in hand, Steve got Jerry’s address and headed over there, blocking the young man’s attempted escape. Meanwhile, Whitley remained behind at the nurses’ station and groused loudly to herself about the necessity of her actions.

DOOL Recap: Tunnel Vision

Elsewhere, the one bench in Horton Town Square, to be exact, Brady and Belle (Martha Madison) played catch up. He told her all about his theory that Kristen had snatched Rachel (Finley Rose Slater), and she filled him in on Shawn’s (Brandon Beemer) suspension from the force and his battle with the demon booze.

Over at the DiMera mansion, Kristen intimated to Marlena (Deidre Hall) that if Brady were to revisit Rachel’s custody agreement, then the little girl would be miraculously returned to him. Marlena relayed the message to Brady and advocated, not so much for Kristen but for Rachel and what was best for her.

In no time flat, a new agreement had been drawn up by Belle and sent to Brady, who printed it off. Soon he was before Kristen, presenting her with her prize. After Kristen happily added her Jane Hancock to the document and handed it back over, Brady tore it to shreds and scattered the pieces about the room. No. More. Games!
