Why Dimitri Handled Leo Stark And Gwen All Wrong On Days Of Our Lives

Stefano DiMera, Victor Kiriakis, Kristen DiMera, Orpheous, and even Megan Hatheway DiMera spoiled us on Days of our Lives. We’d been lulled into a false sense of confidence that all villains carefully planned and researched before implementing their evil, evil plans. That’s why Dimitri’s attempt feels like such a shoddy mess. He really screwed up in playing Gwen and Leo Stark. It all could have gone so much easier. And better.

Days of our Lives: Honesty Is the Best Policy

If Dimitri (Peter Porte) had done even a surface search on Gwen (Emily O’Brien) and Leo (Greg Rikaart), he would have quickly learned that they are awful, terrible, greedy people. The sincere approach is not the way to go with them. And neither is manipulation. What Dimitri should have done is told them the truth from the very start.

DOOL: Business Deal

Dimitri could have gotten faster results if he’d told Gwennie, “So, here’s the deal. I need to get married before I turn 40 to come into my fortune. I’m not into women (though, according to you, I do an amazing job faking it), but you’re into money. So you play my wife on paper, and we both have a great time wearing awesome clothes, eating amazing food, wafting around Europe and wherever else your heart desires — rubbing the faces of wannabes like Xander (Paul Tefler) in our happiness, and basically living well as the ultimate best revenge. We can even have sex once in a while. You obviously don’t repulse me.”

Leo Stark: Added Bonus

“But, wait, there’s more! Let’s bring your friend, Leo, along! He, too, can have a great time wearing awesome clothes, eating amazing food, wafting around Europe and wherever else your heart desires, rubbing the faces of wannabes like Sonny in our happiness, and basically living well as the ultimate best revenge. Also, he and I will have sex once in a while. Since, for some reason, he doesn’t repulse me, either.”

Gwen and Leo would have loved that. Dimitri would have loved that. It would have been no muss, no fuss, just good times for all. But Dimitri went ahead and blew it. Big time.
