A Critic’S Review Of The Young And The Restless: Off The Rails & A Hoot And A Half

When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.

The Young and the Restless: The Critic Offers HIS Take

Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Audra (Zuleyka Silver) having sex…not a big surprise. Kyle and Audra have sex again [and possibly again] and Kyle has no regrets…BIG SURPRISE. And a welcomed one at that. I’ve long decried mopey, dopey Kyle in these columns, but after one night of experiencing Audra’s best seduction techniques he had a noticeable [and appreciated] pep in his step and he looks poised to tap into his bad boy roots. Now I’m invested.

And, thank goodness for Audra. The Young and the Restless has been aching for an agitator [think a latter-day Jill Foster Abbott] ever since potential firebrand Sally (Courtney Hope) was positioned a romantic heroine torn between two feuding brothers, and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) was reinterpreted as a Saint amongst her peers, and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) spun off the rails and practically off the show.

Speaking of Phyllis, her intruding on Michael’s (Christian Le Blanc) attempted seduction of Lauren (Tracey Bregman) was a hoot and a half. Le Blanc has got charm for days and a masterful grasp of the funny and he and Stafford have a special kind of chemistry that just can’t be replicated. [And as for Le Blanc and Bregman *contended sigh* they’re just point-blank magical.]

Further Y&R Musings

* Nothing says out of touch and out of step with your audience than having a legacy character offer up his family home [which he doesn’t even own, by the way] to the ex-wife who cheated on him and the man she did the cheating with.
