“Blue Bloods” recently celebrated its 250th episode, as the CBS drama enters its 12th season. It’s safe to say that “Blue Bloods” isn’t going away anytime soon. There is no shortage of memorable moments with so much material since it first aired in 2010 and a story centered on a family of police and law enforcement officers working on the front lines.
“Blue Bloods” is packed with colorful characters played by acting veterans such as “Magnum P.I.” star Tom Selleck and “Sopranos” alum Steve Schirripa. The Reagans, led by New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, are the focus of the show (Selleck). His family clan of public servants also includes the occasionally hot-headed Detective Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) and the no-nonsense Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan), who fights cr1me from the courtroom.
Jamie Reagan (Will Estes), the youngest child of Frank and Mary Reagan, is arguably the family member who has grown the most in the eyes of viewers. The young cop has progressed from aspiring lawyer to dependable officer and married man. Jamie has many memorable moments on “Blue Bloods,” but his best came in Season 7, when he did something that changed the course of his character’s story — and the show’s.
Jamie and Eddie have evolved into the show’s beating heart
There was a lot of “will they or won’t they” talk about Jamie (Will Estes) and Eddie (Vanessa Ray), but things heated up in Season 7’s “Personal Business” when the two confessed their feelings and kissed. It’s a strong Jamie episode in which he offers assistance to a young girl struggling to pay her Manhattan rent while Eddie accuses him of jeopardizing his job. The episode puts all of the Reagans’ moral compass to the test, culminating in a yelling match between Erin (Bridget Moynahan) and Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) during their family dinner. Jamie keeps quiet and comes up with a simple solution to his problem: he contacts the young girl’s boss.
Eddie later comes by to confess her feelings, and the two agree that becoming romantic would be a bad idea. Just as Eddie is about to leave, she turns and kisses Jamie, forever altering the course of the show. “This episode is a winner,” says one IMDb user. “Personal Business” has an 8.2 rating on the site, which is the third highest for the season. The kiss between Jamie and Eddie is a fan favorite, and more has been requested in subsequent seasons.
In a show poll on Twitter asking for the best moments, many people mentioned Jamie and Eddie’s wedding, most joking because the season finale shows the wedding ending just as the ceremony is about to begin, leaving viewers hungry for another Jamie and Eddie kiss.
