The Young and the Restless viewers know that Nick Newman is devoted to his family and ensuring he isn’t like his father, Victor Newman. He’s committed to ensuring that Sharon, Faith, and the rest of his group stay safe now that Cameron Kirsten has returned to Genoa City. For his performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Nick’s portrayer, Joshua Morrow.

Joshua Morrow: Y&R Performer of the Week

This week, Nick really put things all on the line with Cameron (Linden Ashby). He meant business when he showed up at Cameron’s hotel room to warn him to leave Sharon (Sharon Case) and Faith (Reylynn Caster) alone. In the scene, Morrow had excellent facial expressions and posture to show how infuriated Nick was by Cameron’s sudden appearance in town and meddling with his family.

Perhaps an interesting moment was Nick’s reaction when Cameron noted that Sharon wasn’t Nick’s anymore. Nick didn’t say anything, but Morrow’s subtle reaction conveyed that he was rankled a bit.

Other moments during the week, Nick softened his anger when he dealt with Sally (Courtney Hope). He tried valiantly to comfort her even though he was seething with rage about Cameron at the time. Again, Joshua softened his body language and tone of voice for Nick. However, he firmly let Sally know that Cameron was dangerous, and his tone left little room for argument.

Finally, Nick’s interactions with Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) were like watching a throwback to his teenage years. He wasn’t happy to hear what Nikki had to say, and he let that be known by his general attitude and put-upon body language. Later, when Chance (Conner Floyd) arrested him, Joshua’s Nick complied with the lawman while protesting his innocence.

This week for Joshua Morrow and Nick was a great one. He was able to show some of Nick’s hotheadedness tempered with his caring and more grown-up side. We look forward to seeing what happens next. Bravo on an excellent performance!
