One Grey’S Anatomy Comeback That Could Make So Much Sense

She could also easily fill the void left after Meredith’s departure.

With an ending like Grey’s Anatomy season 19 had, and with all the changes already announced for season 20, fans can expect anything and everything.

A new showrunner could easily mean a new direction for the series: a long-awaited reboot with a bunch of new characters, new stories, and comebacks of fan favorites who weren’t killed off when they left.

Variety’s recent conversation between Ellen Pompeo, who portrayed Meredith Grey throughout the entire run of Grey’s Anatomy, and Katherine Heigl, who portrayed one of the original interns from season 1 to season 6, gave fans a lot of hope.

Although Izzie Stivens had her lows, she was widely loved, and her comeback to the show could have definitely cheered up those who missed the good old days.

Plus, her appearance at Grey Sloan Memorial could’ve potentially brought a lot of drama, as we last saw her when Alex Karev decided to leave Jo to be with her and their kids.

With Katherine Avery’s cancer progressing, fans think it would be as easy as ever to justify her return to the hospital.

In all the years the audience hasn’t seen her, Izzie has managed to become a respected professional in the field of oncology, so she could have easily given Avery a few consultations.

All this while still being bitter about Richard Webber, who ended up firing her for all the wrong reasons.

With so many ways to easily write the character in and use her to develop the current storylines, it’s almost too good an opportunity to pass up.

Of course, no one really believes it would be possible to bring Katherine Heigl back for more than a few episodes, but even those episodes would be enough for fans to get all the feelings.

If you are already feeling nostalgic and want to revisit some of the earlier seasons of Grey’s Anatomy, you can do so by streaming the show on Netflix, Hulu, or on ABC online.
