Married At First Sight’s Awhina Rutene and Carina Mirabile have officially reached the point of no return.
Daily Mail Australia can reveal that the once-cordial co-stars will ‘never connect’ after a series of explosive clashes during filming.
According to a well-placed insider, the bad blood between the women started at the couples’ retreat, where Carina allegedly put on an act in front of the cameras.
‘She walked into the dinner party acting like Mother Teresa, pretending to be the peacekeeper, but the reality was she had been an enabler all along,’ the insider revealed.
‘She defended Lauren’s actions and turned on her supposed friend, and then had the audacity to sit there and preach.’
The hypocrisy, it seems, was a major sticking point for Awhina, who struggled to form genuine friendships with cast members she viewed as ‘fake.’
‘She would scream and shout on camera that she was a good Catholic girl, but never once did she go to church during filming – except for when she was called out for it,’ the source dished.
‘She pushed this whole narrative about being a family girl, yet since the show ended, she’s barely spent time with them. Instead, she’s been jet-setting with influencers and partying with her best friend.’
The insider claims that Carina’s attempts to play both sides of the fence didn’t sit well with other cast members either.
Cleo, who once dated Carina’s husband Paul Antoine, was paired with Awhina during Partner Swap week.
During the Honesty Letter task, Paul told Ahwina that Carina had knocked Cleo off camera telling him: ”I didn’t know you would go for that kind of calibre.”‘
‘She was constantly contradicting herself. She tried to act neutral, but the truth is, she wasn’t Switzerland – she was just playing a role for the cameras,’ they said.
‘Even her recent podcast interviews are full of contradictions. She called Jamie the ‘yin to her yang’ because Jamie is popular, but they were never actually that close. Production pushed that angle, and Carina went along with it.’
But the biggest blow to Carina’s credibility, according to our source, came after the season wrapped.
‘She thought the public would vindicate her, but it’s been the complete opposite. She’s copping serious backlash online, and she wasn’t expecting it,’ they spilled.
‘She’s even been caught posting negative comments about herself just so she could play the victim.’
Carina’s downfall, it seems, has been her own making.
‘She thought she could manipulate the audience, but people aren’t buying it. The support she thought she’d get just hasn’t come through, and now she’s scrambling,’ the insider claimed.
