Married At First Sight Lauren Hall and Clint Rice made the unprecedented decision during Wednesday’s episode to skip the cast dinner party, and host their own.
The couple decided to avoid potential drama, citing a desire to steer clear of tensions with the other participants.
Earlier in the week, Lauren had clashed with fellow bride Jamie Marinos, 28, and called her a ‘troll’, leading to her husband Dave Hand, 36, warning Clint about Lauren’s intentions.
‘Absolutely no part of me wants to be at that dinner party. We are not interested in spending another minute of our life in a room with them,’ Lauren told the camera.
‘I’m sure Jamie will have her batteries fully charged, ready to start screaming and yelling from the moment she sits down. I have absolutely no desire to be in a room with that little troll ever again.’
They decided to instead host a private dinner party for themselves at their Sydney apartment and were seen planning their menu.
‘The group feels like we think we are better than them… and we definitely do think we are better than some people in there, for sure,’ Lauren sniped at the camera.
Clint, 43, added he still felt an incredible connection with Lauren and was excited about their private dinner.
‘I think we made the right decision. There is no point [attending]. They are getting worked up about us… and we are not worked up about us!’ he said.
He later told the camera he felt his relationship with his wife was going strong: ‘Lauren and I are getting along great. The Couples Retreat only helped us. Definitely a spark there for me!’
‘I have no time for any of them. I’d rather eat dirt than go and have dinner with Jamie,’ Lauren added.
They were later seen dining on barramundi in their apartment as they cheekily speculated about what was happening at the dinner party they were absent from.
Upon hearing a siren in the background, Clint joked: ‘Do you reckon that’s an ambulance going to the party? Have they had casualties already?’
‘I would think so, yeah!’ Lauren quipped.
Elsewhere at the dinner party, Jamie got into a heated argument with her co-stars as to why they didn’t stand up for her when she previously argued with Lauren and Clint.
‘Lauren has been nothing but rude and I had her husband telling me to shut the f**k up multiple times,’ Jamie began.
‘I am completely in the right and it pained me that I was met with silence.’
It comes after Lauren shocked viewers by blatantly lying to her husband Clint about her intentions in their marriage.
The drama erupted in Tuesday’s episode at the cast retreat when Lauren was called out for her ‘snobbish’ behaviour by Jamie, sparking a fiery confrontation.
Tensions came to a head when Lauren’s fellow brides began asking her about her relationship with Clint and she bluntly refused to answer their questions.
‘You know what? This is so boring, I’m over it!’ Lauren snapped as she stormed out of the room.
Jamie unsuccessfully tried pleading with Lauren to stay, with: ‘Don’t do this! We have all backed you and you are going to look really silly.’
But the real bombshell came when rumours swirled Lauren was secretly planning to ditch Clint the moment filming wrapped.
Groom Dave Hand took it upon himself to warn Clint about his wife’s alleged deception.
‘Lauren was calling out all the other girls on their night and some of the things she said to Jamie were absolutely absurd,’ Dave, 36, told Clint.
‘You need to be aware of what has been happening and what she has been saying about you. She has been saying there is no spark, that she is not interested.
‘We wanted to give you a heads up. She is saying as soon as she steps away from this, it is all going to be over. Play it smart man, it seems you are getting taken for a ride.’
Clint asked Lauren about what she had been saying – only to be met with an astonishing display of gaslighting as she attempted to downplay her reservations.
‘He said you were rude, stringing me along and I’m going to get hurt. That you are going to run away,’ Clint told his wife.
‘It’s all bull***t! I said we are getting along well and seeing how it goes. That’s literally it. They are actually just trolls. All mental and bullies,’ Lauren said.
Her deception worked and Clint later told the cameras he believed Lauren over his concerned co-stars.
This led to an explosive encounter later on, in which Jamie and Lauren finally confronted each other over the hurtful words.
‘I’m not a bogan!’ Jamie yelled at Lauren and she cheekily responded: ‘I didn’t say you were a bogan. I said you were loud and “boganic”.’
