The New Grey’S Anatomy? Netflix Drops First Look At Explosive New Medical Drama Pulse – And Fans Are Already Counting Down The Days

Netflix has dropped a first look at an explosive new medical drama and some fans are already looking forward to the release.

The new series, Pulse, is set to launch on the popular streaming platform on April 3 and could measure up to longstanding medical show Grey’s Anatomy.

Starring Willa Fitzgerald, Coin Woodell, Jack Bannon and Jessie T. Usher, the hospital drama is based in a trauma centre in Miami and was created by Zoe Robyn and Emmy-winner Carlton Cuse.

It follows a third-year medical student called Danny, played by Willa, who is promoted after Chief Resident Dr. Xander Phillips, portrayed by Colin, is suspended.

The pair then have to navigate working together as well as their complicated romance.

Zoe told Tudum: ‘We always endeavoured to make Danny and Phillips’ relationship a real, authentic look at a workplace romance’

‘Pulse shows the edges and pitfalls of their relationship – but also all the joyous moments of working a high-pressure job like this,’ she added.

First look photographs of the show delve into the world of the hospital drama, even offering a sneak peak at Danny and Xander’s romance.

One image shows the pair caught in a moment gazing at one another, while Danny places her hand on the medic’s arm.

Other shots reveal the chaotic nature of the hospital, with a patient being rushed down a corridor by frantic doctors in a bed in one photo.

Another shows medics carefully examining a patient wearing a neck brace who appears to be covered in blood.

Zoe said: ‘You don’t really to be in the hospital. But if you in the hospital, this is the one you would want to be in. You want to be in the care of these people.’

Pulse also stars Chelsea Muirhead as surgical intern Sophie Chen, Daniela Nieves as another medical student, Camila Perez, and Jessy Yates as a emergency medicine resident student called Harper.

Some fans commented on Netflix’s post on X ahead of the show’s release and one said: ‘Another Grey’s Anatomy?’;

‘Looks intense and thrilling. Can’t wait to watch pulse and see this amazing cast in action.’;

‘Looks like Pulse is gonna be my new binge-watch.’;

‘Pulse looks intense!’

It comes after Netflix viewers went wild over another medical drama, The Resident, last year.

Originally airing from 2018 to 2023, the show follows the lives of the medical team at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital, diving into their on-the-job crises, tangled love lives, and moral conflicts.

At the heart of the series is Dr. Conrad Hawkins, played by Matt Czuchry, a charming yet rebellious senior resident who knows exactly how to bend the hospital rules.

Paired with nervous new resident Dr. Devon Pravesh (Manish Dayal), the show draws viewers into a world where every diagnosis, procedure, and emergency holds the potential for life-changing outcomes.

The series, created by Amy Holden Jones, Hayley Schore, and Roshan Sethi, has earned a respectable 75% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Pulse will be available to stream on Netflix on April 3.
