Married At First Sight star Ryan Gallagher has been caught in a hilarious mix-up that saw him on the receiving end of an angry rant from a fan of the series.
Gallagher appeared on the 2018 iteration of the hit Channel Nine reality series where he was paired with controversial bride Davina Rankin.
On Thursday, the former reality star was slammed by an angry MAFS fan who mistook the 2018 star with current cast member Ryan Donnelly.
This week Donnelly, 36, angered his male co-stars by joking that his bride Jacqui Burfoot ‘has got crazy eyes… but she gives good h**d’.
His heartless remark came during an intimacy workshop with expert Alessandra Rampolla—and the men were quick to vent their frustration to their own partners.
Disgruntled fan ‘Mikayla’ wasted no time sliding into Gallagher’s DMs to voice her disgust over his on-screen namesake’s actions.
‘I wanted to let you know that your comment on mafs about Jacqui was despicable,’ Mikayla began her message.
‘I cannot fathom your thought process of saying in front of a group of men that your wife has “crazy eyes”, I’ve never heard anything more disrespectful in my life.’
Mikayla’s dressing down didn’t stop there, either, with the fuming fan adding: ‘Then!!! You go and say the MOST AWFUL, MOST DISGUSTING, MOST MISOGINYSTIC COMMENT I HAVE EVER HEARD.
‘I hope that comment and your behaviour on MAFS haunts you forever.’
Since his time on the reality show juggernaut, Gallagher has moved on with his Olympic swimmer fiancé Emily Seebohm.
Posting the message on Instagram, Gallagher said he was quite taken aback with the volatile missive, joking that Emily had not signed off on his reality show return.
‘I don’t know if there’s a Ryan on this season, but Emily didn’t give me permission to go on this season,’ he joked.
‘I think Mikayla has had a few too many brandys.’
Gallagher then shared a second post to prove he had not been keeping up-to-date with the show that shot him into the spotlight.
‘And who on god’s earth is Jackie,’ he wrote.
The Donnelly debacle began when he rehashed his most recent feud with Jacqui on the show this week, telling his fellow grooms: ‘Suddenly, the crazy eyes came out.’
Alessandra, 50, probed the project manager by asking: ‘What do you mean… crazy eyes?’
Unaware of the suddenly tense atmosphere, Donnelly giggled and said: ‘Well when she wants to discuss something she’s not happy with, then she gets quite… intense.’
He went on to say she ruined ‘the whole mood’ of Intimacy Week when she tried to express her hurt over him refusing to say she’s the ‘most beautiful girl in the world’.
Donnelly then followed up with the shock remark, saying: ‘But, I gotta say, she gives awesome h***… phwoar! Like, absolutely hot.’
The other grooms, left horrified by his inappropriate comment, were quick to inform their own wives of what happened during the intimacy workshop.
Meanwhile, Gallagher and Olympic swimmer Emily welcomed their baby boy, Sampson Ryan, in September 2023.
Gallagher quietly changed his public Facebook profile picture that month to feature a photo of himself and Emily with their newly born son.
The pair announced their engagement in March 2023, after the couple met on Channel Ten reality series The Challenge in 2022.
However, they opted to keep their engagement under wraps until March.
‘We just wanted to live in our own little bubble, we just wanted that for us and our families,’ Emily told the Daily Telegraph.
Gallagher proposed to her next to a dam on his farm near Goulburn, NSW, with a trilogy diamond ring from Goulburn’s Zantis Jewellers.
Speaking to Stellar in February, Emily revealed the couple were in no rush to marry, but could elope at any time.
‘I feel like sometimes we talk about it and say maybe we should elope or we’ll go to the Town Hall and just get it done,’ Emily said.
‘If weddings weren’t so expensive or take so long to plan, we would have done it. It’s probably an after Paris [Olympics] thing.’
Gallagher rose to fame on season five of Married At First Sight when he was paired with controversial series ‘villain’ Davina Rankin.
Davina was portrayed in the series as having an affair with Dean Wells, who was paired with Tracey Jewell.
She bore the brunt of ire from MAFS viewers while Ryan engendered sympathy, becoming an instant fan favourite.
