On today’s Days of our Lives, Sloan Petersen remembers playing God with several lives, including that of her trusting beau.

Days of our Lives Recap Highlights

In addition, EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) and Nicole (Arianne Zucker) went on as they intend to, Megan (Miranda Wilson) saw her best-laid plan go to pot, and Xander (Paul Telfer) and Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) got extremely close for comfort. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.

Days of our Lives: Sloan Petersen Fails To Impress

Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) paced the length of her studio apartment, begging her phone to ring and for Colin (Jasper Newman) to be on the other line. When someone came calling, Sloan naturally assumed it was her brother. It was not. Enter Detective Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu), search warrant in hand.

Sloan hissed that she wouldn’t be dumb enough to hide her brother in her own apartment, then intimated that Jada shouldn’t even be on the case, owing to her sister’s involvement. After all, Talia (Aketra Sevillian) is the one who actually committed the majority of the crimes that Colin stands accused of. She also offered to let Jada arrest her.

Jada squared up against the counselor but decided to let a cooler head prevail. That was fine for Sloan. She’s got enough on her mind, what with her boyfriend’s ex being pregnant and all. That one obviously took Jada by surprise. “Oh, you didn’t know? Yeah, Nicole’s pregnant.” What’s more, Talia and her drugged biscuits are to blame for their predicament. Jada said that that was unfortunate for everyone involved, and Sloan stooped to throw Jada’s aborting Eric’s (Greg Vaughan) baby in her face.

Days of our Lives Recap: Sloan Petersen Is A Lying Liar Who Lied

Opposite the above, Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) handed Nicole the results of her test, filled her, EJ, and Eric in on Abe’s (James Reynolds) MIA status, then left.Nicole opened the envelope, read through and processed the medical mumbo jumbo, and announced that Eric’s DNA was NOT a match for the baby’s. EJ cooed that that was nothing less than a miracle and declared that, in the long run, it’s best for everyone involved. “In a sense, everyone’s a winner today.”

After wishing the couple the best of luck with everything, Eric took his leave, and Nicole and EJ rushed off to speak with Kayla. Sometime later, Eric arrived at Sloan’s door and announced that he was not the father of her baby. Sloan took Eric in her arms and then remembered how she swabbed her own cheek to ensure that the test would be negative.

DOOL Recap: A Practical Proposal

A frantic Leo (Greg Rikaart) barreled his way into the room he shared with Gwen and relayed that “there’s a psycho on the loose, and he’s got me in his sights.”

That statement prompted Gwen to bid Leo be more specific. “This town is full of psychos.”

After elucidating that his particular psycho was the one who tried to kill the mayor and his wife and his stepdaughter, Leo demanded that an obviously unbothered Gwen show him a bit more concern, if for no other reason than he pays half their rent.
Gwen put in a modicum of effort, then attempted to convince Leo to focus on something else, namely interviewing recent Salem arrival Dimitri (Peter Porte).

Speaking of Dimitri, after a most arduous journey from Greece, he happily reunited with Megan and Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) — well, less so Kristen, who sniffed of her one-time foe, “Yet another prodigal son. Just what the family needed.”

Megan suggested that the feuding kin let bygones be bygones, “especially if you two are going to be married.”

Having recovered from choking on their incredulousness, Kristen and Dimitri demanded further explanation, and Megan was more than happy to oblige.

Megan: “I have recently been made aware of the fact that there is a very sizeable amount of Von Leuschner money that Dimitri is in line to collect. But there are strings.”

Dimitri: “There always are.”
Kristen: “Okay, and what are the strings?”
Megan: “The trust specifies that he must be married by the time he turns 40.”
Kristen: “Any, how old are you now?”
Dimitri: “39”
Megan: “And 3/4.”

Still, questions abounded. Why was Dimitri just now hearing about this trust? Why the desire to keep the marriage “in the family” for this? Why does Megan seem so desperate to get her hands on it?

Explanations roughly in that order, some members of Dimitri’s family purposefully withheld the info in hopes that he’d be unable to make the deadline, how better to ensure that Dimitri doesn’t fall prey to a money-grubbing gold digger, and Mommy and Auntie need that money to finance their mutual ambition: world domination. Also, if Dimitri and Kristen were to marry posthaste, they could get their hands on the necessary readies in no time flat.

Unfortunately for Megan, neither Dimitri nor Kristen would bite. Damn! But no sooner had Megan resigned herself to the drawing boarding than Gwen — who’d taken it upon herself to get the “greatest and largest story of the year” — sauntered into the DiMera abode looking for Dimitri.

Days of our Lives Recap: Odd Couple

Over at Xander and Chloe’s apartment, he welcomed her home with a glass of bubbly, and she responded by grousing that she’d just quit the job he snagged her.

Why, exactly, did she quit? “Two words, too many letters: Gwen Riz-izczech.” What did she do? What didn’t she do? First, she stuck Chloe in a literal broom closet. Then, she spent the whole day blowing up her phone with unrealistic sales goals.

Is it possible, even conceivable, that Gwen might have merely been attempting to motivate Chloe? Fat chance! Is it possible, even conceivable, that Chloe didn’t really put in effort equal to what Xander expended getting her the job? Possibly.

Xander implored Chloe not to throw in the towel and pointedly pointed out that “if you quit, Gwen wins.” Did Chloe want Gwen to win? Is she afraid to stand up to a bully? Hell no! She’s been standing up to bullies since she was in high school. That granted, why should she subject herself to the torment?

Xander wondered if Chloe would do it for him; she agreed that she would. In return, Xander prepared Chloe a dinnertime take on a Scottish breakfast, got her all giggly with his tall tales, then pulled her in for a smooch!
