Married At First Sight star Ross McCarthy has sparked fears he has secretly split from on-screen bride Sacha Jones.

The 32-year-old painter and decorator from Manchester is one of the contestants in the current ninth season of the chaotic E4 dating show. He was married to 29-year-old skincare therapist Sacha in the launch episode of the 2024 season and they jetted off to Brabados for a romantic honeymoon.

But there are fears the honeymoon period is well and truly over – and the couple have already seen their romance go down in flames. Suspicions have arisen after fans noticed the couple no longer follow each other on social media – while Ross has also seemingly declared his love for someone else online.

Followers on Facebook noted the hunk had messaged another woman declaring his love for her. When she replied to say she loved him right back, Ross replied: “You’re the best” – with the woman then responding: “You’re welcome, you can keep me forever.”

Fans of the show have expressed their fears that the love affair between Ross and Sacha is over – but have urged them to share details about their relationship status. One fan commented online: “Hope you’re both still together, such a gentleman.” Another wrote: “Really prey use to are still together you make the perfect couple, you are the sweetest.” And another fan commented: “You 2 are still together you are the best match this year.”

While on Sacha’s Instagram, one fan urgently asked: “Are you still with Ross?” But one fan speculated: “Apparently he’s with someone else now.” And the original inquisitive fan wailed: “Oh my God!”

The current season of Married At First Sight filmed last year and the couples involved are meant to keep their relationship outcome a secret until the final episode airs. The show has a dismal success rate with most couples breaking up after being married the first time they meet each other.

Former contestant Shona Manderson recently shared how taxing appearing on the show can be. She featured on the show last year and was married to controversial contestant Brad Skelly – with the duo being removed from the experiment after show relationship experts noted evidence of controlling behaviour from Brad.

She said: “In my personal journey on MAFS I was only there for three weeks. I had quite a lot of downtime because of the situation that I was in, so there were a lot of times when we were filming and then they would say, ‘Oh, no, we’re not going to film it today because of the situation. Which meant I had time to go to the gym, but also there was a lot of time we had to wait for a welfare person to be able to come to the gym with you. So you had your freedom, but it was never on your own schedule.”

Shona revealed that she struggled with guilt after being sent home due to speaking out about what had happened while on the show. She shared how having therapy had “massively helped” and said if she was ever put in the same situation again, she would know exactly how to deal with it.
