Season 21 will also follow the return of a familiar face, doctors facing new complicated challenges, and Catherine entering her villainous era.

The dynamic between Meredith Grey and Catherine Fox will be fun to watch this season, because both are headstrong women who will continuously butt heads as Meredith fights to continue work on her research and the reinstatement of Amelia, Owen, and Teddy’s jobs. The complexities of Catherine’s relationship are expected to not only affect Meredith, but also other staff members after she threatens to replace them all, resulting in Miranda Bailey challenging Catherine’s actions. Outside the hospital drama, the doctors and interns continue facing their own personal challenges and dilemmas, while trying to balance a stressful job that requires no distractions.
