A former Miss Universe contestant, who failed to make the final cut in her bid for the crown, is reportedly wreaking havoc on the set of Married At First Sight.
Insiders have revealed to Daily Mail Australia that season 12 bride Veronica Cloherty has been ‘nothing but trouble’ for both her groom, Eliot Donovan, and the production team, with some even labelling her a ‘high-maintenance diva.’
While MAFS is designed to help people find love, it seems Veronica’s focus is elsewhere – her acting career.
Having failed to make an impact in the world of pageantry, the beauty queen is allegedly using the show as a platform to build her public profile, leaving Eliot and the production staff struggling to keep pace with her ambitions.
‘She’s treating this show like a personal audition,’ a source close to the production told Daily Mail Australia.
‘The minute the cameras are on, she’s performing, but behind the scenes, it’s all about advancing her career.’
In a shocking revelation at a recent dinner party, Veronica reportedly admitted to multiple cast members that she’s been ‘acting’ the whole time, revealing she deliberately altered her personality to prolong her stay in the experiment.
‘She’s play ing a character just to extend her screen time,’ an insider shared. ‘Everyone was floored when she said it out loud.’
Veronica, who previously starred in Streets of Colour and limited TV series RIFK, has left her groom, Eliot, ‘exhausted’ by her behaviour.
Sources also claim she’s been more invested in her friendship with Eliot’s ex, Lauren Hall, than in her marriage, leaving the cast baffled.
‘It’s clear she prioritises hanging out with Lauren over connecting with Eliot,’ one source said. ‘The rest of the cast is shocked by how dismissive she is of her own relationship.’
To make matters worse, Veronica allegedly moved out of the couple’s apartment just two days into the marriage.
‘She didn’t even give him a chance,’ a source explained. ‘She just up and left.’
It’s not just Eliot who’s reportedly finding Veronica difficult to handle.
Production insiders have also spoken out about her diva-like demands.
As if the situation couldn’t get worse, Veronica has allegedly been overheard talking about her plan to use the show to increase her social media following and boost her profile in the entertainment world.
‘She’s very calculated,’ a source said. ‘She’s here to launch her acting career, and everyone knows it.’
‘The producers aren’t happy because it’s taking the focus away from what the show is supposed to be about.’
