Brittany Cartwright hopes she and Jax Taylor can have a ‘healthy’ co-parenting relationship as they navigate their divorce.

The Vanderpump Rules alum, 35, told PEOPLE on Thursday that Jax, 44, is a ‘great dad’ and that their three-year-old son Cruz is their priority.

But she admitted that tensions are still high between herself and her ex — who she split from in February — and that it’ll ‘take some time’ for them to reach a ‘healthy’ place.

‘He’s a great dad. Great dad, terrible husband. I’m not ever going to take Cruz away from him,’ Brittany began.

‘We will always put Cruz first and we are going to work towards a healthy co-parenting relationship.’

Despite any drama between them, Brittany said she can always depend on her ex.

‘It’s going to take some time. Still, things are very raw between us, but for the most part, I do know if I needed something, if Cruz needed something, I could call him and he would be there for us,’ she explained.

Hours before Brittany’s remarks were published, DailyMail.com obtained photos of Jax moving his belongings out of their $2million martial home in LA on Wednesday.

After five years of marriage and a six-months separation, Brittany officially filed for divorce from her The Valley co-star on August 27.

Citing ‘irreconcilable differences’, Brittany requested primary legal and physical custody of their toddler son Cruz and for Jax to be granted child visitation.

Jax subsequently admitted that he doesn’t blame Brittany for seeking a divorce.

He said on the When Reality Hits podcast: ‘Unfortunately, she’s had enough. And I don’t blame her at all. I mean, I can’t believe she’s been with me this long as it is. That we stayed, to be honest.’

Despite this, Jax was still caught off-guard when Brittany decided to leave him.

The reality star said: ‘When she decided to leave, I was kind of in shock. I shouldn’t have been in shock, but I was in shock.’

Jax conceded that he’s been through a ‘really, really rough’ time since his split from Brittany.

He added: ‘Anyone that has gone through a divorce will understand how difficult this is.’

Sources previously claimed to TMZ that Taylor received his divorce documents on camera.

The insider told the outlet that the former couple were both filming for The Valley, but ‘did not’ tape anything together on Tuesday.

According to the publication, a ‘third party brought the documents’ to Taylor.

Sources familiar with his and Cartwright’s relationship, she ‘took the initiative and decided it was time to file’ after determining he had ‘done too many things for a reconciliation to occur.’

Taylor is said to be ‘getting ticked off from all the praise Brittany’s getting for choosing to file’ as he allegedly thinks she ‘has her own dark side to her.’

Fans have been warned that season two of The Valley is set to be a ‘heavy one.’

The divorce comes several months after Brittany underwent a secret cosmetic procedure.

The star of Bravo’s The Valley told DailyMail.com exclusively she had a two hour AirSculpt session – which removes fat and tightens skin – in May so she could feel good about her body for the summer.

The work was done three months before filing for divorce from Taylor.

And the reality TV sensation is ‘thrilled’ with the move that has boosted her confidence after a very tough year.

‘I am feeling great these days after getting AirSculpt,’ she told DailyMail.com as she could be seen showing off her slender frame in new images.

‘Yeah, you can say I wanted a revenge body. I wanted to look good after everything I’ve been through this year. I want to look my very best. I wanted to get my sparkle back.’

Being newly single is a big adjustment for her.

‘I’m working on myself because I need to heal. To be honest with you I thought I would be with Jax forever so this is so new for me. It is taking some time to heal and move on,’ she told DailyMail.com.
