The Huge Hole At The Center Of The Young And The Restless

Where have all The Young and the Restless bad guys gone? Everyone in Genoa City is just so toothless lately. For a while there, Phyllis was scheming and plotting, shrieking and threatening. But now Phyllis has decided she is a poor, pathetic victim. And the story seems to agree with her. The real villain was Jeremy all along. And he, alas, is dead.

Young and the Restless: Back but Broken

Y&R brought back two bad seeds from the past. But, these days, Diane (Susan Walters) is also a victim who, at worse, throws a little snark Ashley’s (Eileen Davidson) way. And Tucker (Trevor St. John) just wants to moon over his ex-wife, make puppy dog eyes at his son, and watch videos of his grandson banging on his drum all day. Harrison (Kellen Enriquez) is more menacing at this point.

Y&R: Classic Coke

There’s our old standby, Victor (Eric Braeden). But all he does t hese days is mediate between his bickering children, and tell his sons he doesn’t like their taste in women. That’s not villainous. That’s grumpy grandpa territory. If the worst he can do is be a burden to his children, no one is going to be quaking in their boots anytime soon.

Potential Young and the Restless Energy

For a while, it looked like a new generation might be stepping up. Summer (Allison Lanier) used to blackmail and sleep with her mom’s man just because she could. Now, she’s Phyllis’s (Michelle Stafford) number-one victim’s assistant.

Nate (Sean Dominic) pulled some corporate shenanigans and cheated on his girlfriend, but, so far, he seems like his own biggest enemy. We have great hopes for Audra (Zuleyka Silver). She seems to enjoy stirring the pot and pitting people against each other. But she’s not 100% there yet. We’re sorry to say it, but all good and no bad makes Genoa City a very dull town to visit.
