After facing poor performance allegations all season, Below Deck Mediterranean star Johnathan Shillingford revealed if he wants to leave the show. Plagued all season by bad performances and questionable culinary skills, Chef Johnathan attempted to repair his reputation outside the Bravo show one meal at a time. Although he had reasons for his poor performance, like lack of provisions, he continued to push through Below Deck Mediterranean season 9, with minor improvements here and there.
Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 star Johnathan Shillingford revealed whether he would be open to return for another season.
After he was criticized on and off the show, Chef Johnathan revealed whether he wanted to quit the Bravo show going forward. In a gallery of Instagram photos from Chef Johnathan, he posed with his castmates as he reminisced about the season coming to an end. He expressed how proud he was of the crew with the perseverance shown in how many difficult moments they had to overcome on the Mustique.
When asked if he found it frustrating that he had no help in the galley, he responded, “It was really challenging! I wish I’d had a sous, but would do it all over again.” Based on that comment, it can be assumed that Chef Johnathan would be interested in another season of Below Deck Mediterranean.

Chef Johnathan Has Been Given A Second Chance
As Chef Johnathan has managed to avoid being fired by Captain Sandy Yawn, it would be interesting to see him appear in Below Deck Mediterranean season 10. He has maintained his position on the Mustique by a thin thread after he refused to prepare late-night snacks for charter guests, served cold eggs, and served dry chicken. He took the feedback provided by Captain Sandy and made sure to apply it to his meals and attitude as well. Chef Johnathan has made every attempt to restore his reputation as a skilled culinary chef.
Coming into the season, Chef Johnathan was very proud of his self-taught culinary skills. Unfortunately, his skills proved to be lackluster in the eyes of Captain Sandy, the charter guests, and the crew. However, Chef Johnathan continued to show he had improved through his Instagram videos that showcased him preparing sophisticated dinners. Through these videos, it appeared as though Chef Johnathan had become comfortable working in a galley by himself.
Although Chef Johnathan started on the wrong foot with Captain Sandy, he has continued to try and prove himself as a professional chef throughout the charter. He took Captain Sandy’s criticism of his performance to heart and applied himself to be better. Captain Sandy has continued to provide second chances for her crew, which is awesome to see. It will be interesting to see if Chef Johnathan returns for Below Deck Mediterranean season 10 and see how much he has improved.
Below Deck Mediterranean airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
