Married At First Sight’s Melinda Willis was the self-assured CEO who took Season 10 by storm, and viewers loved her for it.
But unfortunately, Mel has documented how that same confidence led to a horror date 10 months after her split from Layton Mills.
In late July 2024, Melinda told her Instagram followers she was heading out for a date. After many inquired how it went, she replied: “Still no Romeo yet”.
“Second date I’ve been on now where I was told I’m ‘intimidating’, ‘confident’ and ‘hard to read’. It’s said to me like it’s something I should work on changing (inserting eye roll here),” she explained.
“I obviously got into a debate over it at the restaurant table last night, because I’m not going to let someone’s insecurities be put on me.”
She also said the man thought a second date was on the cards, but she obviously did not feel the same.
In a later Instagram Story, Melinda said she’d originally “sugar coated” what was said, including digs at her ‘holding her own’.
“But what fired me up the most when he said: ‘Look, you’re clearly beautiful and all but what’s your response when guys tell you you’re too much or too full on because I’m sure you’ve heard this?'”
Melinda felt this was especially annoying because she was tired from a big day and was actually “super chill and mellow”, rounding up her feelings by saying the night was “for the BIN”.
Earlier in the month, Melinda said she rarely went on dates.
“I’ve been on two [dates] since breaking up with Layton last NovemberđđŽ,” the 34-year-old wrote.y
Melinda’s inclusion of two trash emojis was a good indication that they weren’t successful.
One follower asked if she was “still hoping to find the right man”, leading to a very candid response: “If he exists, send him my way please. Slowly giving up hope đ˘.”
Melinda and Layton announced they had broken up in an October 2023 social media statement, one week after their one-year anniversary.
“Hi all. We wanted to keep this private for the time being, but we have a lot of supporters that are invested in the relationship and owe it to you to be transparent,” they wrote.
“After a lot of thought and consideration, we have sadly decided to both take time apart.”
