Married At First Sight bride Lucinda Light has lifted the lid on her experience on the popular dating show.
In an interview with Daily Mail Australia, Lucinda, 43, shared insights into her journey on MAFS and how she has adjusted to life after the show.
Lucinda, who resides in a quiet coastal town along the Great Ocean Road, admitted it feels surreal when she is now recognised while travelling to bigger cities.
‘The amount of opportunities that have come my way has been beyond my wildest imaginings,’ she said.
‘I live in a quiet coastal town, so mostly I’m keeping things normal on a domestic level—cooking, enjoying nature, and getting good sleep. It’s still quite surreal being recognised when I’m in Melbourne or elsewhere.
‘I love the exchange of love in those moments when someone greets me like a long-lost friend. It’s so beautiful actually.
‘The other day I had a concreter around to do some work on the house and he made me laugh so much with his shock and delight – “It’s you Lucinda, it’s you!”‘
Lucinda also spoke candidly about the biggest lesson she learnt from the experiment.
‘I learned some humbling things during my time on the experiment,’ she explained.
‘It was a significant growth spurt and continues to be. One lesson that stands out is to not be such a leafblower!’
Reflecting on the overall experience, Lucinda expressed nothing but love and appreciation.
‘I absolutely loved the whole experience! It has been incredible, encompassing the full gamut of emotions—it was tough, hilarious, filled with breakthroughs, humiliation, joy, hope, and disappointment – the lot!
‘I loved all the cast and crew, and every day was a new adventure. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and an utterly unique experience. What you put in is what you get out!’
Staying Grounded
Amidst the public attention, Lucinda maintains a healthy mindset by staying true to herself.
‘I’m just me—at this age and stage, I feel pretty solid in myself,’ she gushed.
‘I’ve been through enough pain and tragedy in my life to now just feeling really grateful for it.’
‘I see the public attention as a divine mirror—gorgeous, dazzling, and divine humans exchanging love, seeing in me what’s inside themselves.’
‘I can feel the collective pulse of my audience and wish I knew each one of them and what lit their hearts on fire. I’ve adopted a village, and I love that!’
No Regrets
Lucinda also doesn’t dwell on regrets from her time on the show.
‘I generally don’t live in regret. What’s happened has happened. I said and did what I did. Learn and grow time!’
Handling Media Scrutiny
Handling public attention and media scrutiny can be challenging, but Lucinda has a pragmatic approach.
‘Everyone is always going to have an opinion; it comes and goes. Take it with a grain of salt. Some of the nasty trolls are AI bots.
‘Some of the articles are not factual. You can’t please all the people all the time. Be you, unapologetically so,’ she explained.
‘Authenticity is where it’s at—your most sincere attempt at it. Be you, be true. Don’t be afraid to share your vulnerability, your heart, your all…’
Self-Care
After the show, Lucinda focused on self-care to maintain her mental and emotional health.
‘I went back home, straight back to nature—bush and coast—and surrounded myself with family.
Self-love is where it’s at. Everyone has different regulation tools, but for me, it’s good sleep, good food, nature stomps, surrounding myself with people I love and who love me, and getting in the ocean (best re-set).
‘I’d also bounce off people I really respect, digesting the experience with a chin wag, and I’ve stayed close to some of the cast that I love—we’ve got that unique-experience bond together.’
Doing Things Differently
If given the chance to do it all over again, Lucinda shared: ‘I’d probably just go a little easier at the beginning.’
‘I have lots of love to give, but I realise everyone is at a different pace and place, and I could have tuned in a bit more. Lots of learning there.’
Exciting UK Tour
Looking ahead, Lucinda is excited about her upcoming UK tour.
‘The UK tour is going to be a whole lot of fun with lots of love and light exchanged. I’m so excited about it!’ she gushed.
‘Fans can expect a ‘one woman’ show with storytelling from my life and the lessons and tools I’ve extracted, including from MAFS. It’s immersive, wholesome, and there’s a dollop of cabaret in there too for good measure!
‘An Evening with Lucinda Light is about Emotional Intelligence, self-love, and being the most unapologetic version of yourself while remaining considerate of others. I’ve come a long way with that one!’
