Married At First Sight’s Claire Nomarhas has announced her shock split from boyfriend Patrick Calleja.
The Season 10 star confirmed the news during an Instagram Q&A this week, in response to why she’s been absent from social media.
“I know I used to spend a lot of time on here chatting and sharing pretty much every aspect of my life but I took a huge step back over the last 3-4 months,” she began.
“I’ve gone through a break-up, had to find a new home, trying to balance work and my mental health and it was super hard.”
Claire met Pat, who is the brother of The Block 2022’s Tom Calleja, more than five years ago and went public with relationship back in July 2023.
It was during this time the pair revealed they were moving in together.
Speaking on her break-up, Claire continued: “I didn’t know how to navigate it in private, let alone publicly so I just kinda disappeared.”
Claire reassured fans she’s in “one of the best places” mentally she’s ever been.
“I’m super proud of myself for giving myself time to heal and grow,” she said.
The news promoted one follower to ask what happened between the couple, which Claire was happy to explain.
“I think it’s important to consistently check in and reflect in a relationship. Lack of communication is killer,” Claire continued.
“You have to constantly work on yourselves as individuals and put in effort to the relationship for each other.
“We stopped doing that somewhere along the way and when you become complacent, romance dies.
“It’s also really important to have alignment with your goals and the way you live your lives,” Claire continued. “Whether it’s the big stuff like marriage and babies, or the smaller stuff like going on dates.
“I realise how much I value being with someone who has the same mindset as me.”
Despite their split, Claire and Patrick have seemingly ended things on good terms.
“I can’t say a bad word about him because he’s a great human. Just not my human,” she concluded.
Claire met Patrick around five years ago whilst working together and formed a friendship. They dated for two years, but split prior to Claire’s appearance on the experiment.
During her time on the show, Claire was matched with groom Jesse Burford who she didn’t find love with.
Following MAFS, Claire and Patrick reconnected, and confirmed their romance in July 2023.
