According to teasers for Days of Our Lives (DOOL), EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) is prepared to welcome a new beginning.
Fans of DOOL are aware that EJ believed “Jude DiMera” (Oliver McLarty) just wouldn’t do, and with Nicole DiMera’s (Arianne Zucker) assistance, he intends to choose a different name for the child.
Nicole noted that Jude was a cute name that the baby was already familiar with, of course, but EJ insisted that they choose a completely different one.
Nicole finally consented to follow EJ’s desires because he values this.
Unfortunately, this could really pour salt in the wound for Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) and leave him even more heartbroken soon enough.
Days viewers will recall that Eric and Sloan Petersen-Brady (Jessica Serfaty) struggled to settle on a name they both liked.
Eric finally came up with Jude after St. Jude, the patron saint of lost causes, so Sloan ultimately got on board.
There was a time when Eric lost hope on becoming a father, but then Jude came along and fulfilled that dream.
Now that Eric’s daddy status has been ripped away, it’s extra cruel to change Jude’s name, too.
In some ways, it’s like wiping out all those months Eric spent caring for Jude.
Although Nicole would’ve preferred to be raising Jude herself, she knows Eric is a victim and appreciates the way he cared for her little boy.
That said, “Jude” arguably sounds like a free-spirited hippie who’d grow up to do something artsy that EJ wouldn’t approve of.
EJ would no doubt like a more traditional name that’s more appropriate for a DiMera who could take charge of the family business one day.
During the week of June 3-7, Days spoilers say Nicole will have an emotional discussion with Eric – one that could involve broaching the topic off this name change.
Nicole was robbed of the chance to pick her son’s name before, so Eric might offer his blessing on changing it – even if he’s beyond devastated deep down.
This could make the loss feel even more real for Eric, who’s dealing with major heartache after surrendering Jude.
Sloan will probably think about telling Jude’s birth father—Eric—but it doesn’t seem like she will.
EJ shouldn’t have any say in this since, of course, he is lying about being the father.
Nicole and Daddy Eric will probably both go back to referring to the young man as “Jude” once the whole truth is out.
In any case, our Days forecasts indicate that EJ will eventually have to pay a price for his deceit!
