Married At First Sight’s Timothy Smith has stunned fans with his latest extravagant purchase.

The 51-year-old reality star took to his Instagram account to share that he has bought a plane, a month after disclosing on A Current Affair that he was a convicted drug smuggler who served over a year in a US prison.

‘I bought a plane!!!!!! But there’s a twist,’ Tim captioned the post.

The accompanying video showed Tim and his co-star Jonathan McCullough disassembling the plane’s wings to fit it onto a trailer.

Tim’s former on-screen partner, Lucinda Light, couldn’t resist making a cheeky jab at the vehicle’s small proportions.

‘Who’s got the remote?’ she laughed.

‘Aghhhh, this is sooooo exciting!!!! It’s so cute, so mini!’ she added’

Fans were quick to join in on the fun. One fan commented, ‘That looks like one you control with a remote. So teeny tiny!’

Living in Vancouver at the time, Timothy used a helicopter to illegally smuggle large amounts of marijuana from Canada into the US.

His sordid history was unveiled by A Current Affair in April, leaving viewers shocked to learn the real estate tycoon had spent over a year behind bars.

‘I would take off from a little unmanned airport and I would fly up a valley into a creek where I would meet a four-wheel-drive… within a minute, the helicopter would be loaded,’ he explained.

Timothy was eventually caught by police in Los Angeles when he returned to the country after visiting his sick mother in Australia.

He was sentenced for ‘trafficking marijuana over an international border’ in 2006 and spent additional time in immigration detention.
