Kyle Richards has denied sending Dorit Kemsley a ‘manipulative text.’
The 55-year-old, who joked about a possible divorce settlement with her estranged husband Mauricio Umansky on Buying Beverly Hills, pushed back against claims made by her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star.
‘We haven’t spoken at all but I’ve always supported Dorit since she joined the show — whether it was about people saying she was phony because of her accent — I defended her with that,’ the reality star said Thursday during Amazon Live’s TikTok.
‘Saying when you live with somebody who has an accent, you can pick up on the accent. I’m like that, too.’
The Life is not Reality Show: Keep It author said she had also stood by the fashion designer, ‘With the dog, with Lisa Rinna in Hong Kong, with [Lisa] Vanderpump, I always stood up for her,’ she contended in the question and answer session.
The Halloween franchise actress revealed she felt ‘very hurt by what happened at the reunion. I felt hurt by things that were said in the season, then at the reunion, the text being read was very hurtful to me.’
When the season 13 reunion special aired earlier this month, Kemsley told co-star Erika Jayne the American Woman producer had texted her the day before to encourage her to keep certain information private.
‘She sends me a text yesterday basically trying to silence me,’ the Beverly Beach founder claimed.
“It was so manipulative. It was so calculated.”
Richards, in her explanation, said it was the opposite.
‘I was actually being very forthright in saying, “I have a lot at stake now and this is really hard for me. I have a lot on my plate. I know what’s coming at me. You and I, these are stupid arguments. We don’t need to do that too. If you want to talk about it great, if you don’t want to talk about it, okay.”‘
Richards and Umansky, 53, announced their split last July after 27 years of marriage.
When asked if she thought the questions about her relationship were over the top, Richards answered in the affirmative.
‘Of course I do, but that’s the nature of the beast,’ she replied.
‘And I was very nervous about answering those questions.’
Saying that coming clean wasn’t ‘easy’ for her, she admitted, ‘I was just waiting for that day to be done with.’
‘I’m so grateful that the season is over,’ she said.
