The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) relationship will hit some snags down the road. Since Melissa Claire Egan is pregnant, that’ll lead to her maternity leave and temporary exit when the time comes.
What will the show do with Billy in the meantime?
It’s possible Billy will choose to focus on Jabot and all the Abbott family drama, but what if that’s not enough to keep him busy?
After all, it’d be good for drama’s sake if Chelsea comes home to a shocker.
Chelsea could at least come back to a secret that’s just waiting to explode since it’d be an easy way to kick off a new storyline.
Perhaps Chelsea will get called away to help her mother, Anita Lawson (Catherine Bach), recover from some ailment again – or maybe Chelsea will have to take some extended business trip related to Daniel Romalotti Jr.’s (Michael Graziadei) gaming platform.
Chelsea can probably do her therapy sessions remotely and keep her recovery on track – just like she can have video chats with Billy while she’s gone.
Even so, that’s not a substitute for all the time Billy and Chelsea have been spending together.
Billy tends to get distracted quickly, so he always needs a project to focus on or something new to get his attention.
It could be tough for Billy to stay loyal to Chelsea during what we can assume will be her lengthy trip out of town.
Could that lead to Billy drifting toward a backup love interest? There’s a great option to consider, especially after some intriguing scenes that aired in the March 10 episode.
That’s when Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) stole a moment alone with Billy to comment on how much he’s changed and praise the way he’s stepped up for Chelsea.
Billy and Chloe are exes, but Y&R’s never really done much of anything with this version of them. However, that could change if the show decides to let sparks fly!
Jason Thompson and Elizabeth Hendrickson work well as costars, so it’d be interesting to see Billy and Chloe feel a magnetic pull as exes.
Can you imagine Chelsea’s reaction if she returned and found Billy getting too close for comfort with Chloe?
That’d be an excellent way to shake things up since Chelsea’s dating Billy and considers Chloe to be her bestie.
If Chloe and Billy crossed the line, it could also lead to complications in Chloe’s relationship with Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart).
The fallout could definitely bring some dramatic situations to keep fans tuning in.
Regardless, it was nice seeing Billy and Chloe as scene partners again. Could the show take that a step further and let these former flames sizzle once more?
