Married At First Sight star Jay Howard has sadly seen Christmas 2023 ruined thanks to a nasty bout of Covid.

The reality TV star, who appeared on the E4 series earlier this year, took to social media on Boxing Day to let her followers know she’d “never felt so ill and drained” in her life, as she revealed she had caught the infectious disease.

“I hope everyone’s had a lovely Xmas and enjoy the rest of the holiday season, ” Jay, 32, began when writing to her followers on her Instagram Stories, going on to share: “My Christmas has been cut short because of Covid!!”

Jay, who was paired with Luke Worley during this year’s offering of Married At First Sight, continued to write: “I’ve never felt so ill and drained in my life. So, I will be watching Disney films and sleeping this horrible little gremlins off until the foreseeable. F**k you Covid for ruining Christmas. Hope everyone enjoys Boxing Day!”

Jay enjoyed an action-packed 2023 prior to catching Covid – marrying Luke Worley on national TV, with Luke even calling their pairing “perfect” at one point. Sadly, things didn’t stay that way and things went on to go wrong for Jay and Luke towards the end of the experiment.

The couple were asked to leave the E4 series thanks to Luke getting involved in a physical fight with his fellow Married At First Sight co-star Jordan Gayle. The show’s dating experts were forced to make the decision after Luke tried to break a door down to confront Jordan regarding some comments he made about Luke possibly cheating on wife Jay.

Jay and Luke didn’t stick it out romantically after leaving the show, with the former couple revealing during the Married At First Sight reunion that they felt they are “better off as friends”. Jay went on to admit “a breakdown of communication” contributed to their split and the fact they live so far apart from each other.

Speaking about the show in general, Jay credited the Married At First Sight team with helping boost her confident. She told Heat! magazine: “The experts know what they’re doing. They’re telling you how other people perceive you – almost holding up a mirror to you – and you’ve just got to trust them.

The Lancashire lass admitted many of her friends thought it was “out of character” when she signed up for the E4 series and went on to add: “I learnt so much from the whole experience that I’ll take with me into my everyday life. The show has helped me accept me for who I am, which is something that I’ve never been good at.”
