The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Monday, April 10, teases that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will have a fierce faceoff with Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), who’ll fume over his engagement and act like Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) is to blame for Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) death.
If Jack continues down this path, Ashley will feel like he’s going to face the same deadly consequences as Phyllis.
Of course, Jack will rush to Diane’s defense as usual and make it crystal clear that Ashley needs to butt out.
When Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) shows up to check on Jack, he’ll mention that people are talking about Diane and saying she must be involved in what happened to Phyllis.
Jack will think it’s insane to listen to vengeful Jeremy Stark (James Hyde) and others who consider Diane an adversary, so he’ll shut down the gossip and vow to protect Diane through their marriage.
At the GCAC, Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) will basically act like Diane must be pleased over Phyllis’ fate, but she’ll deny that and insist she has sympathy for those mourning the loss.
Once Tucker’s upstairs in his suite on Monday’s Y&R episode, Ashley will come over to complain about Jack’s refusal to listen.
Tucker will be bummed when Ashley nixes the fake engagement ploy he recently pitched.
Now that Phyllis’ demise is such a big news item, Ashley won’t see the point in trying to steal Jack and Diane’s engagement thunder.
However, Tucker will kiss Ashley’s hand and nuzzle her neck as he paints a picture of how things would’ve gone down.
Ashley won’t mind hearing Tucker’s alternate outcome of a fake engagement leading to real love and marriage.
That said, Ashley will think Tucker has more work to do before she fully lets her guard down with him.
At Crimson Lights, Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) will fume when Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) once again tries to help her plan Phyllis’ memorial service.
Summer will maintain that she has to handle all the details herself and will think this can be one last gift for Phyllis.
Once Summer starts trashing Jeremy and Diane, she’ll insist what happened to Phyllis was malicious.
Kyle will urge Summer to see that Diane didn’t want Phyllis dead, but she’ll think he’s got blinders on when it comes to his mom.
Since Summer will have it stuck in her head that Phyllis was killed intentionally, Kyle will think his wife should see a professional and talk through her grief.
When Kyle suggests Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) as an option, Summer will reject the idea – especially considering Sharon’s history with Phyllis.
Besides, Summer will think Kyle just wants Sharon to brainwash her into believing Phyllis’ death was an accident.
There’ll be too many coincidences in Summer’s eyes, so she’ll eventually walk out on Kyle and leave him distraught.
Once Sharon approaches Kyle’s table, he’ll admit he doesn’t know how to help Summer – particularly when she keeps attacking Diane.
Sharon will contend that just being there for Summer is enough.
After Sharon insists the pain will become bearable in time, she’ll assure Kyle that he can get through this with Summer as a team.
Afterward, Diane will find Kyle and offer a comforting hug.
Once Diane worries about adding to the strain on Kyle’s marriage, she’ll insist she understands that Summer’s grieving and doesn’t blame her for lashing out.
Kyle will want Diane to know he has faith in her – and the same goes for Jack. That’ll mean the world to Diane as they continue trying to navigate tricky waters.
At the athletic club, Summer will find Daniel Romalotti Jr. (Michael Graziadei) and admit she’s handling all the memorial service arrangements.
Daniel will seem a little irritated about not being included, but he’ll ultimately decide he’s been too messed up to be of any real use to his sister.
Summer will check out some art Daniel drew in memory of Phyllis last night and will think they should use it for the service.
Once Daniel hints about taking Jeremy down after Phyllis’ sendoff, Summer will think he should consider Diane’s link to all this.
That’ll lead to Summer’s theory about Phyllis marrying Jeremy and offering money in exchange for protection.
Summer will assume that Jeremy’s true loyalty was with Diane, so he double-crossed Phyllis and killed her.
Summer will also suspect that Jeremy was angry when Diane announced her engagement to Jack and felt betrayed enough to want vengeance.
Although Summer’s guesswork will seem pretty “out there,” she’ll feel like it makes sense considering the kind of people Diane and Jeremy are.
Summer will continue to battle guilt over her treatment of Phyllis in recent months, so she’ll feel like she owes it to her mom to get to the bottom of this.
